i know they go like **** off a shovel, but do about 10mpg, and will cost a fortune to run.

they weren't that reliable when they were new, all those years ago.

not a practical only car, but if you can afford an expensive hobby as a second car, go for it.

They're basically good cars but have some problems.

Bodywork - common rust areas at bottom of windscreen pillar, back edge of roof, rear window and bottom of tailgates, plus areas that are bombarded by stones, in the sills behind the plastic side skirts.

Engines generally pretty strong if maintained properly, but as they are cheap cars, many have been used and abused.

Fuel economy isn't that bad - 30mpg easily if touring, down to 20 if driving hard.

They're fun to drive and very practical. I had one for a couple of years and enjoyed it.

Spares are getting awkward as FIAT are deleting lots of items from their inventory.

Thanks again - presumably having 'Martini' stickers all over it (albeit professionally done) does not add to the value?

Well if they're of strong vinyl they might hold the panels together for a little longer

Same age as a Golf MkII, rarer, more tuneable, less reliable... about a grand, if that?

Have a scoob - just interested in this - looks like it might a fun, distinctive track car

From what I currently understand the HF is about 160 bhp through 2wd and might cost between 2-4k based on condition. The Delta Integrale (same bhp?, 4wd, funky body kit) seems to cost anything between £6-20k

Anymore than this anyone?

There are some articles on here:

Not sure if they'll help, but might be of interest. I love the Delta (esp. Integrale). If I had a garage (and some more money) it would be top of my shopping list. Despite the problems, you've gotta love 'em!

Could be fun on track, but what if what Pumpkin says is true - spares are difficult to find?

they are a 1.6 8v turbo twincam 140bhp good handling, they shar the same motor as the 131 fiat supermirafoiri only not a 2.0 so the engines are pretty bulletproof,i sold mine 3years ago g reg rosso monza freshly painted 70000miles reconned wheels and new tyres for 3 grand i would say there up there with the golf gti 16v mk 2, 205 1.9 gti in the performance stakes, however if your planning on doing the bodywork yourself like i did you find its a lot worse than it looks when you start sanding the paint around the rust, but i still like try finding a copy of auto italia they are a helpfull mag for parts.

OK two versions the earlier cars are carb and the later are fuel injected and slightly more powerful.

Its base on the Lampredi twin cam used accross most of the fiat range so very very tough engine. Main issue with these cars is rust as hasd been pointed out.

The mechanicals are robust if looked after but you need to find a good shell or you could spend a fair bit on welding !

The engine is a derivative of the Lampredi twin cam used in various Fiats and Lancias from the mid 60's to the mid 1990's. Its a good engine, and is related to many successful rally and race engines.

Bodywork is the problem, plus inadequate maintenence by people who regard it as a cheap, fast, disposable car.

http://www.walkers-garage.co.uk/integrale_in_stock.htm

In fairness the Integrales are serious classic cars now. I know Wheeler Dealers bought a HF recently. (Repeated tonight on Real Time about 8-9 ish) But as with all classics its buy the best you can afford.

The first Integrales were 185bhp, rising to 215bhp.

The HF turbo can be increased from 140bhp, although traction becomes and issue and the gearbox isn't as strong. Mine was roughly 165bhp and was great and perfectly reliable
