Just wondering how often people here change their car.

I get bored of cars reasonably quickly and rarely have a car for more than 2 years. I'm reluctant to buy anything too new as I know that, almost regardless of the car, I'll want something different soon.

 

17 cars in the last 4 years

 

5 cars in the last 10yrs

 

Two cars in the last 7 years, and I've still got them both!

I really should get out more...

 

More often than I change my pants

 

Too often, 26 cars in 6 years

 

About 15ish cars in the last 7 years.

 

Longest I've owned a car is 18 months (current one), but looking to change before it hits two years. Nothing at all wrong with the car I have, I just get bored of them and fancy something different

 

TOO OFTEN is the answer, once I added up how much I lost on cars over a five year period - I would've saved money if I had just bought a Murcielago at the start and been done with it !!!

 

I generally keep cars for about 1-2 years maximum. Longest I think i owned was for 4 years.

Can I ask what the limit is per year before you have to declare yourself as a dealer?

7 a year from memory....

I get bored and nothing has lasted me more than a year so far apart from my Reno 5 which I still have on the drive 5 years on the RX7 is keeping me entertained at the minute but I dont get to drive it enough to justify keeping it. Undecided as yet but if I sold it I'd still have the need for speed/modding

 

Four Cars in 5 years. Otherwise you loose to much money. That's my opinion anyway. And besides, I tend to get board easy with cars.

I buy a 3 year old car every 3 years, that way I don't get hit by depreciation as bad as the poor sod who bought it brand new.

 

I am on my 10th car in 7 years, although since meeting my girlfriend [now wife] i have bought her 5 cars in 5 years

I think the maximum is now 4 per year.

 

I'm on the other end of the scale it seems, 6 cars in 16yrs. But I am on my 2nd scoob

I hate to think how much money I've lots on cars over the years, thats the trouble with these bits of metal!

Blimey, I think I've worked in more countries than I've owned cars, and each of those can be counted on the digits of one hand!!

 

I used to change my cars regularly. I had 10 cars in 4 years from 1999 to 2003 (not to mention 5 bikes) and then I bought my 3rd 330d Sport. I still have it, as it's a brilliant car and I bought it new, so have taken a hit on the value.

I'll most probably keep the car for a while longer, and then my wife will take over when I get a 911! LOL

Shortest time was just under 8 weeks

 

sorrry so yes im on my fifth car in 20 years , ( 1 of those the scooby was written off after a year)

 

I get bored of cars in about 6 weeks on average, and end up selling after about 6 months......I always find that people buy my cars as they are fastiduously looked after by me, and I lavish money on em during my short ownership!

Ive had my current 330ci conv for 2 months.....looking at my next car already!
