79 Transam
A friend of my old man is selling his 79 Transam and i am quite tempted to buy it. Overall the car is ok for its age, requires some cosmetic work but apart from that its good. Maybe all I am thinking about is the nice big V8 lump under the bonnet and how it sounds.
Anyone had any dealings with Transam`s and should I leave it alone as i have a feeling it would be quite a large money pit.
6.6ltr V8 tho hmmmmmm !!!!!

The problem is, if it's standard, you'll be lucky to see 200bhp from that lump as it'll be low compression and strangled by emmissions gubbins.
Parts for Yank V8's tend to be cheap, though. A full set of 8 forged pistons for it will be less than a set of 4 for a Scooby, for example.
Alternatively, the standard 8.0:1 CR is ideal for turbocharging

Stick that in 4th gear and smoke it
(wait 'til he takes off the emissions crap, opens up the heads a bit, hotten up the cam, flow the headers and put some decent fueling/ignition on there - won't be quite as lazy then )

I like your style - just think how much it'll be worth or how much extra income it'll bring you when they do to smokey and the bandit what they did to the dukes of hazzard..!!
