Default Alfa Romeo 147

Recently the missus has taken a liking to these.....

In particular, she like the 147 2.0 lusso Selespeed.

Now, I know that it has a twinspark 150bhp engine and nice leather (mostly) but what else should I know about them?

Whats the selespeed setup like? How does it work? Is it better than manual?

Cheers for any pointers

I nearly bought one - see this thread:

The depreciation alone put me off, not to mention reliagility that comes with buying an Alfa.

The 147 JTD we took out was a lovely car though...

The reliability of the 147 is much better than the 156. Mine (2.0TS manual) was very reliable apart from a few niggles that you get with most cars. The only thing I didn't like was the rather snatchy clutch that was a bit of a pain in slow traffic.

I personally wouldn't go for a Selespeed because they can be the least reliable thing on the car and I prefer to be in full control.

My dealer was a new one and very good, much better than the local Subaru dealer! But there do seem to be a lot of bad dealers out there.
