best MPG cars priced <3K and built after 2000
i have a new job in the city gonna be driving around the scoobs for sale i cant afford the petrol or want it getting mullered in london which it will do quickly.
i need a 3 grand motor to bomb around in that will be stable on the motorways nothing too ricketty and i dont care if its diesel or petrol.
i want at least 50mpg and it to be fairly modern. pref jap or german too for reliabilities and residual sake.
ive read that these seat arosas are good for 65 mpg, anyone else got any thoughts.

they do a 1.4diesel which does around 75 to the gallon.
if you get bored you could always put a 1.8 turbo 20valve engine from the golf in it

I would go for a Seat Arosa or VW Lupo TDI. Excelent cars, can be mapped to 100hp and 240 lb/ft or something - actually very nippy with the stock 75hp and 150 lb/ft and easily average 60+ mpg
