Ok i'm going looking at an Audi S3 at the weekend from the local Audi dealership.

whats the situation with having a test drive of the vehicle? or do they expect you to buy it without one?

Cheers guys!

I've found that salesmen have been tripping over themselves to offer me test drives. I had one today and I've got another lined up tomorrow If they don't offer you one just ask.

I have found some dealerships let you drive the car on your own (many years ago)
I had to give my driving license to them and had 30 mins

Some take you out you cant drive or you drive with sale person in the car with you

I test drove my present car with the sales person in passenger seat

She looked pretty green when we got back

Good move I think she wasnt in the mood to barter

No test drive, no deal. Easy. TBH, I'd be suprised if they didn't offer, but you never know.

Don't want a 3.2 Sline instead?

I've dealt with a number of Audi dealers, and whilst some of them have been bad at following up a general enquiry in a particular model, when there has been a specific car I was interested in I have had no problem with getting a decent test drive.

One dealer even gave me and my wife the keys to their TT convertible and just asked how long I wanted it for! And there was no hard sell at all when I brought it back having decided I didn't want one.

Gary.

When i went to test drive a few (Chester and Warrington) they both sat me down took all license details etc, then went out for a drive, came back sat down and gave me the full on Sales blurb.

At Chester told them i had another to view tomorrow and they knocked a grand off, said i still wasnt interested and she said take it now and ill knock another grand off. Not bad i thought but still never bought that one!!

Bradford fine

Don't whatever you do buy one from Franklin's in Leeds. I've had nothing but problems with them in the past and their former VW mates next door. You'll get better levels of service in McDonalds at Bridlington on a busy bank holiday weekend than those to55ers in Leeds.

As for the 3.2 being slow..... I guess your getting a chipped S3 then? That's the biggest problem with the 3.2, you can't do a right lot with it unless you start changing expensive internals, but a standard 3.2 is a tadge quicker than a standard S3. As it's also a big bore engine, so it's easier to drive

Hull Audi gave me a 3.2 for the day when I was looking, and they offered that as well; didn't have to ask. Pitched up, gave them my licence, they gave me the keys, and off I went. York Audi were a bit funny, which is odd, because they are the same company.

Anyway, good luck !!!

I had no problems getting a test drive from Bradford.

I also have to say that the Leeds dealsership were very helpful. Brought a car over to Halifax for me to test drive in my lunch hour and also brought the car over when I actually swapped it with mine.
