Default Vauxhall Axtra TD/1.6i

Yo, bird has to shortly choose her next company car and due to the scheme trying to save costs her V5 Bora is going and is to be replaced by either a 1.7CDTi (80bhp) Astra or a 1.6i Astra - bl00dy nightmare let me tell you.

Anybody had a go at either or anybody got any opinions - I would love a big TD (BMW five series takes my fancy) but don't fancy an 80bhp one !

Also, anybody know of any tuners who could tweak the TD - Superchips don't do a chip yet for the 04/05 Astra (according to their website anyway).

Surely the 1.6i is the better bet albeit with only approx 100bhp ?

Thanks

ps. any sympathy gratefully received

I bought a 1.7 CDTI Enjoy for my rep about 3 weeks ago :

- 1200 miles
- 04/54
- Metallic paint, CD, air con, alloys etc
- remainder of 3 year warranty

It was supplied by a main dealer, who put a full tank of diesel in, and fitted mudguards and mats - £8000

I thought this was an excellent price to pay for a nearly new car.

(The dealership was Nidd Vale in Harrogate)

I have driven both as hire cars. I wasn't too impressed with the 1.7 CDTI but thought the 1.6i was ok.

Prefer the 1.2 3 cylinder Polo I have at the moment to both ! The Scooby is being repaired at the mo..
