Default MK2 mondeo drive shaft oil leak-help needed

Found an oil leak under car-on closer inspection its coming from where the drivers side drive shaft enters into gearbox-reading an old haynes manual for a mk1 mondeo (mines a mk2 1.8 petrol btw) it says you can replace oil seal then goes on about wether or not you remove the intermediate shaft or not etc-question-whats fastest/easiest way to change this oil seal-is it an easy job for myself to do ( i have a good selection of tools etc), if so how long should it take, or how much roughly would an indepandant garage charge to do job. Thanks for help

On escort 5 speeders leaks from drive shaft seals could mean diff bearings starting to colapse along with speedo not being smooth.Iwould just buy a seal and fit it.Removal of complete shaft would make it easier.I havnt done a mondeo but on the escort there was a specal tool to drive the seal in with to save damaging it.Hope this helps a bit.JASON

speedo seems to move smooth enough-how easy is it to remove shaft-on the mondeo on the side that is leaking it has an intermediate shaft-so is that easy to take off?
