Now take an F1 car, look at its aerodynamics, traction control, weight, has more power than the car mentioned per kg (power to weight)...yet its slower. I think someone got carried away with the figures here, considering this car was mentioned in the internal Vauxhall magazine 4 years ago, as my brother worked at Dagenham where it was said to do 0-60 in 2.85 which was its best effort...still bleedin mental!
Remember traction (2 points of contact) is impossible to be gained under 0.8 seconds due to physics, therefore, the car is really being "pushed" (skidding along forwards) by the nitrous...bit like a rocket. So you have to start from 0.8s onwards, which really means the car can do 0-60 in 0.499s. A bullet leaves a gun at 0.3s working on the basis of this car result...so its 0.1s off a speeding bullet...sonic booms threshold then must be 0.5s (so working out the car's 0-60 claims) there should have been a sonic boom at 0.5s.
(now how do you do that thing you used to do at school when your mate told you he had shagged the best looking girl in your year the other night, when you put your lips together and make a sarcastic mmmmm sound whilst nodding your head)

Yeah but an F1 car has to do a lot more than travel in a straight line, dragsters are purely set up for straight line speed, the tyres are designed for maximum grip and only have 4 psi to maximise the contact patch which is much bigger than an f1 cars, they deform and actually alter the gearing as the car gets faster, they heat them up by spinning them in bleach so the soft rubber is even softer. The transmissions are desiged purely for the quarter mile, no slow corners to worry about.
1.5 seconds is very possible, after all the record for the quarter miles is what, about 4.5 seconds so these things must get past 60 pretty quickly !

Quote's from Vauxhall 'Vaux' mag:
"Almost everything about that car is illegal in the uk, almost all of the drag tyres even the treaded ones are not e marked so are not legal. the exhaust have 2 pathways, one with silencers and one without, the car wont run anywhere near that power with the silencers. Nitrous is illegal for road use in the uk and you shouldnt pass a MOT even if the bottle is connected. Respect for being able to make cars that fast from stock, but they really arent road cars, also fast means maximum speed, so would be beaten by several supercars over a set distance"
"That car is not street legal, I bet the claimed figure of 0 - 60 in 1.25 was done on racing rubber, such velocity to do 1.25s, upto the 0.5s rate, would cripple any tyre on that car as traction is not found under the 0.5s mark apart from F1, Indycars, even still, there is a constant search for more traction. If so, F1 would be interested in this new found technology! There is no street tyres that would give you that ammount of grip and as such is not street legal in the uk at least. Drag times on real road surfaces, as remember this is a "street" car, are more likely to be over doubble than a drag strip, a realistic 0-60 on this said surface are likely to be in the high 4's, thats the difference"
"Very, very quick, but is this the claim to worlds quickest street car for 0-60, as there are many cars which will run 1/4 quicker, quicker top speed, etc"
So there we go, make your own minds up...personally I think its a bit deceptive to claim its the world fastest street car, as this car can't even drive on the roads without a hell of a lot of work done to it converting it from its drag set up to road use, so then you are not using the same settings!
Still its British.

A Top Fuel drag racer accelerates from 0-100 mph in 0.9 seconds and 0-330 mph in 4.5 seconds. Drivers experience a force of 5 Gs at the start and then 3.5 to 5 Gs negative Gs when deploying the parachute at the end to slow the car.
So I can believe the fairly modest 0-60.
