Time to change the M3...
Fancy a change for the summer.
I have an E46 M3 (amongst other things )
Fancy a CSL but don't know if I can handle loosing all my 'toys'.
Other option is a older (2001ish) 996 911 Turbo.
But the CSL is 2004 car, so much newer car.
Any other options?
I enjoy the ring, but mainly road car, and come back to UK regular so will be doing quite long distances.
Where do I go from the M3?!

I met a very nice chap who had moved from a E46 M3 to a 996 GT3 (1st one) but then changed it for a 993 RUF turbo. What a car - he was smitten with that, as it was light and nimble - air cooled, as fast as a GT2 but still had the goodies and safe AWD grip.
Or wait for the new CS (i think) M3 coming out with the qucik rack, light alloys but all the goodies ?!?!

As a response to your pre-edited post, and maybe as general info to those looking to purchase a 911. A 993 Turbo can be picked up from £40000 up to £60000 and RUF will take £14000 for their 500hp 505 lb/ft upgrade that will irritate the very rare and expensive 959 and trounce everything on the road. The 996 turbo is from about £55000 to well over £100000. Ruf can offer a package for this car also.
The other alternative maybe too bland from a M3, but the audi S4 is reasonable.

Get a Noble M400
Fifth gear recently tested it against a Mitsu MR400, and for pace and ability (in the dry) it seemed to better the MR400 getting round the circuit in around a 1.5secs quicker than the Mitsu.
The spec is quite impressive in terms of performance, and would prove a genuine CSL rival. Spec includes: 425bhp, and 390lb torque. There is further info about the car in this months Evo mag. The only problem is the price at about £56k.
