Default VAG 1.8t

Quick question, one of my friends told me that they come with Forged Pistons as standard... is this true??

He was referring to the 225bhp TT, however, he was under the impression that they all had them and that the upgraded power across the range (150,156,180,190,210,225) was mainly down to other factors.

Cheers,
Grant

yeah 210 and 225 engine have uprated internals, which is think consists of forged pistons, stronger crank and thicker con rods.

although ive read that the very latest 225 engine actually have slightly thinner con rods compared to earlier 210 and 225 engines.

All 1.8T's come with Mahle forged pistons. They do run different compression ratios across the various power outputs though.

Thanks guys... So I assume that internals are good for about 350bhp??

Are there IHI turbo kits available for these cars which will take them to nearly that figure anyway??

Do the gearboxes hold out at this sort of power??

Cheers,
Grant
