Well, I assume it's *more* than a service. i.e there are things wrong/worn out etc.

Or is it 4 figures just to change the oil, a few filters and some plugs?

Whats the issue? If one needs to ask the price of servicing/fuel perhaps sir should think of an alternative marque

Were you warned of this when you bought it?

We just had my wife's scoob serviced and it needed a few bit and pieces as well as some discs and pads etc and the bill was nearly £600. So for a Ruf i'm not surprised.

thanks for the support everyone, I was just surprised as quite HOW much it was.

£1595 for a service is feckin huuuuuuuuuuuuuge especially when nothing is acutally wrong.

the 747 comment made me snigger whilst drowning my sorrows with "cheap" plonk

Hawk,

just think of my mate's predicament...he borrowed my Toyota 4 x 4 , overfilled it with oil, all four pistons shattered mashing the engine internals and cylinder head and destroying the turbo.
I have just got the mechanic installing a new engine and turbo as we speak and sending the bill (£3000) to him.

Hawk, at least you have peace of mind that you're all serviced up for the next 12,000 miles / 12 months...you are on sensible intervals aren't you?

The vehicularly clueless former landlord of my local once filled his carlton to the top, yes, that's RIGHT up to the filler cap needless to say he didn't get very far in it.

Me and a couple of the other locals ended up putting a £150 motor from the scrappy in it for him

Back on topic though, 911's of that era are a pita to service anyway, before you put all the nice ruf toys on them, I thought £1600 was quite reasonable meself

Don't really understand the thread....these cars do cost a lot to run.
I have a 996 Turbo, coming up to its major service which I know will be well well well over £1k, hows about £2k for a clutch, or a battery for £150 ?
Spark plug change takes an OPC 4 hours labour (@ £100 per hour !)& sometimes involves removing the rear bumper......I did my homework before buying so its no shock to me.

But I agree...its never nice to have to pay it !

A few years after the McLaren was released, I remember reading an article about those owners who would now have to MoT them. McLaren did the prep and MoT work - at 10k a pop.

Always put me off buying one *cough* *cough*

Not to mention that the clutch only lastes 4k miles and costs £10k to replace...ouch even if it did cost £600k to buy.

I did my research regarding the car and can afford to run it BUT it still smacks of holy sh{t when you compare it to my previous car (MY02sti) and my wifes Range Rover has 3 years FREE servicing.

Just smarts a bit especially when I only do about 6000 miles per year in it.
