Never had a diesel... need one... Project ** O I L B U R N E R **
Project
** O I L B U R N E R **
First time in my life I need a diesel... Too many miles and a daily oil burner is now needed, an estate would be nice.
Tight budget but just need something for point to point motorway driving 70-80mp h & stop start malarky..
I like the idea of a TDi but even 93' L plates want 2k.
Not sure how much to actually budget for one... not interested in any toys really just a strong daily sh1tter really.
Would be interested in your opinions on this.
BTW I have to save my pennies for my Jap exotica at the weekend so no GT TDI's lol
So....
like to stay German but open to others really.
Project * O I L B U R N E R * looking at German just now but consider anything really of any age!
You lot have got £1,000 upwards to get me a black reek producing old sh1tter.!!!! Let be avin' you!

Not sure on your budget. 306 D turbo cheap ish. Or just a sh!tty 306 diesel. 405 turbo diesels are good but no image, also 406 TD. Also the FIAT tipo 1.9 TD is very good for the money sub 1k. Was considering these after my CRX, but have got a P reg Fiat Brava with 57k for £500, 1.4 12v. Should do the job nicely.

I've just got (another) Citroen ZX. M reg, 80k miles, £600. For that sort of money there are both TD and NA versions - get the TD if yu can, they're way quicker.
Totally reliable, too.
Cruises at 80mph, does 50+ mpg, and no-one's ever going to steal it.

Hmmm, will have a look. Really have to be honest with myself & just get something to eat the miles, did it with a scooby a while back 180 miles to a tank, octane boost & refilling every 2 days - expensive. Coould up the budget if something German was do-able. Still looking and open to any suggestions really - how about Fords? read: Fix Or Repair Daily

I used to have an L reg diesel escort estate and it was great. Think i bought it for £800 and it never put a foot wrong. Only sold it cos needed a 4x4. Would highly recommend one as general run about.

Basic repmobile/minicab stuff - Mondeo LX should do. Longer wheelbase than 306 means you'll be more comfy on longer motorway journeys. Unless you're concerned about parking in town.
