Default Turbo Toyota Avensis ???

Was in Windsor at the weekend and saw what I thought was a white Legacy.

Turns out it was a white estate Toyota Avensis GT-T complete with big wheels, zorst, and a big air scoop on the bonnet.

Anyone know anything about these ???

That's funny. As soon as I first saw the Avenis estate I thought "Rover 75". Now there is a Rover ZT-T hot version, and an Avensis GT-T hot version!

Is this the current Avensis or the previous Avensis??? If it's the previous Avensis, then what u've seen is a JDM Caldina GT-T. It's running gear is derived from ST205 Celica GT4, hence 260ps 3S-GTE engine plus 4wd.
The current JDM Caldina is very different from the current Avensis, so if the Avensis u're talking abt is the current model, then it must either be a mod job or a prototype.

There was also a turbo 4wd version of the Caldina that was equivalent to the Carina E (or Corona Premio in Japan).

I know that car and it's an import and was aparently a prototype with the twin entry turbo engine and 4 wheel drive. It's been in the area for years and I've know of it since it was imported because it went into my brothers garage when it first arrived in britain.

Well the ST215W that Ive pictured is available for about £3000 upwards at auction for a Grade IV.....

Im not really familiar with the Corona Premio but in my defence there are about 1,000 different models available at auction today; over 18,000 cars..... Clarence what chassis code is the 4WD turbo as I cant find it in my reference lists at all? Id looked for turbo Toyota Wagons earlier too...

Prototype Paul? Was that due to its twin-entry turbo? Revision 3 MR2 Turbos had a twin-entry turbo before these were made though so Im not convinved. There are about 20 of these available at auction in Japan today so I suspect that the owner/importer was elaborating on the truth somewhat....

I really don't know I'm only going on what the guy who owned it told my brother and until now I thought it was a one off like he said Obviously not but it's the only one I've ever seen.

He told my brother it was a 4.0 twin turbo if I remember correctly so I thought that was b0llocks and thought it must be the twin entry turbo Toyota engine. I think my brother has an under bonnet shot of the car somewhere.
