Aussie Ford FPV Mk2 GT-P
I keep seeing a Ford Falcon (BA series) XR8 around my neck of the woods, so i thought I'd do some research.
Top spec Ford of Australia muscle saloon has the unlikely name of the FPV Mk2 GT-P. It's a Falcon with a 290kW (about 390 bhp) 5.4 litre quad-cam V8, 19" wheels, Brembo brakes and the option of 70's style muscle car side-stripes.

for more details. It's a bit heavy (1825kg), but it seems to go and sound pretty well. Not a pretty car, but could be a bit of a laugh to hoon around in all the same.
Bottom line? Top spec model is $70,000 AUS. That's about £30,000. Not bad at all.
Has anyone on here driven one of these beasts? I tried to hire a Falcon when I was in NZ last year, but they gave me a Mitsubishi Diamante instead. Not quite the same thing...

Ali-B,
You gonna get a second-hand one, then? Sounds like a bargain to me. A few Mad Max mods and you could be a real road warrior. Of course, you won't pull many Sheilas. I'll stop now...
Oh yeah, big advantage over here is that no one will know what it is. Very handy for baiting M5's, should you wish to do anything so irresponsible.

I would....BUT (and this is where the resistance to temptation kicks in)...Even 2nd hand (or third at that) It really is on the limits of my finances.
I could afford it. But I can't afford the insurance, the petrol (or LPG conversion), importing the mods (if I ever get that far). And if I needed to sell it cover any shortfall in cashflow I'd either suffer depreciation worse that bug eye scoobs or not being able to sell it as nobody know what they are
If I win the Lotto...I'll have one of each...Ford and a HSV, maybe a ute too

I actually prefer the looks of the Ford, TBH. The Monaro is just a bit too over-inflated Calibra for my taste. Mid-life crisis chest-wig material
If I lived in Australia, I'd have one (The GT-P, that is). As I don't, I won't.
