Default Saxo Bonnet Question

Hi all

I recently had my Mk1 V reg VTS repaired after vandalism and this included a new bonnet to replace the keyed and dented one. Something's been bugging me about it though and after looking at some old photo's of the car I realise what it is. The original bonnet was flat and the replacement isn't. What I mean is that it's formed rather like a 3 series Beemer bonnet with two lines running from the top corners, over the bonnet and ending at the inside edge of the headlamps, tapering together as they go down the bonnet. Now the front edge and the top of the grille meet up fine so it can't be off a MK2 Sax which is a totally different shape.

Anyone got any ideas what I've got? I like it and I certainly don't want to phone up the sprayers and ask unless absolutely necessary because the job overall is fantastic.

Ray

Nope, got any piccies though? As it does sound strange. Maybe it's a 106 bonnet rather than a Saxo.

Did they change the bonnet when they did the first facelift?

There have been three saxos.... two with the original shaped lights, different grille and possibly bonnet?

I'll snap some pics when I get the chance. Might be phone pics as I park the car about a mile from home at the moment. I'll search for pics of facelift and 106 bonnets for now.

pic of bonnet like the new one http://koti.mbnet.fi/css/saxo/mk1.jpg

It's obviously a Saxo bonnet then but what series?

edited to say: looking around I think mine may have had a 106 bonnet on it originally. The shape is not as obvious on them.

Thats a mk1, same creases in bonnet tho...

106 bonnets had a piece that dropped between the lights, so can't have been one of those.. can it?

On some cars the diesel versions have a raised middle section - maybe your new bonnet is from a saxo diesel?
