I've had two Peugeot turbo diesels myself and both suffered from head gasket failure (a 205 STDT and a 306 D Turbo) although I must admit I did give them some punishment. Also the power steering pump on the 306 decided to explode but this was fixed under warranty so I'm assuming its an isolated incident. I bought a 1999 normally-aspirated one for the missus and have had no problems whatsoever. As long as they've been looked after right they should survive beyond 100k miles. One thing I have noticed with the 306 D is the suspension is a bit creaky so there may be some worn bushes somewhere, I'll get it checked out when it next goes in for a service. Maybe something to look at when you go to view the car.
The 306 chassis is pretty solid and they can be quite fun to chuck about at low speeds without the danger of killing yourself so they make a good first car.

Id knock the price down on it though, i picked up a 2ltr ST sedan for less than that on a P with 38k on the clock! (top of the range!!)
