I have a little LSi coupe that I use for work and jotting around. Mine is 1.6 non-vtec - making it a group 10 ins group.
Best thing you can do is buy some nice 17's, lower it, fit nice - non boy racer s/s exhaust - keep the lines clean and clear of Halfords and MP filfth. Looks alot smarter, and doesnt detract from the line of the car. I bought mine purely as I couldnt get a hatch (prices were higher) so opted for the boot - but I've come to like that as well
As for driving, they are 103bhp - which not bad for decent motorway progress. The ride is pretty sharp for the car - wheel at each corner virtually is the reason why.
MPG is 36-45 combined m-way and country stuff. Thats my results so far.
The reliability of the car is excellent - only usual wear and tear items to replace. Exhaust lasted to 100K (5 years) of driving it.
Paint work is excellent again - Honda excelled in this area, and I think thats why you see so many of the older cars still going strong.
Interior is fine, nothing fancy - function and everythings still works fine.
The best shape is 96-00 Civics IMO. The coupe is a great little car - with bags of potential - and best still, overlooked by the masses for the hatch - so getting a very good well priced example should be easy.
Go for it - you wont be disappointed I guarantee you.
