Question

Probably something like the cruise control, that you switch on when you want it.
Useful, on French motorways at night: no traffic, easy to droft off.

The sensors don't react if you use your indicators, so that negates the overtaking argument. And they can also be turned off if you wanted to cut a few corners. The thing that most people will object to, is that the lane departure sensors will force people to drive correctly...

Probably looks for a constant white line, not a broken line.
Easy enough to do.

I can't see the point in them myself as I tend not to drift in my lane and have never attempted to drive over a high bridge with no crashbarriers while blindfolded. I also don't want my hazard lights coming on every time I brake hard.

Says a lot about the car in my opinion. It's a brand new design and everything else that goes with it, yet the best thing they can think to advertise on it is this 'gadget'. Will this really mean people will go out and buy this car - no way! Emotion, passin etc all come into it and I laugh everytime I see the ad, as the agency who made it I think have pulled a quick one. Shocked by the whole thing to be honest...

excactly, I mean, what sort of person is going to watch that advert and think 'hmm, yes, fantastic, I think I shall get one of those new fangled C5' ... probably the person who anounces that thought by saying 'Mildred, I have had a thought dear'

Rented an Alfa, forgot which, 156 I think. Go over 80mph and a warning announcement comes on.

It's Italian FFS, they just raised the speed limit to 150 kmh...
