What is the fastest auto?
Mate needs a rapid auto and doesn't want to spend a million. Any suggestions?
Forester 2.5 turbo would be ideal but some confusion as to whether there will be an auto model.

Nice, but he was looking for something newer. I agree the legacy is a nice car and a perfect fit but the new ones just aren't quick enough.

Have you actually been in the 3.0 one?? It is pretty bloody quick with on paper figures being very deceptive.
The only other suggestion would be something like a C32 AMG merc

Alpina versions of the M-series BMWs are available as autos.
Or an old Bentley or XJS
Can get a Jag XJR for not too much, too.
Legacy B4 RSK
We've recently bought a 2000 Merc CLK 320 (215 bhp) -- but there's a 430 and an AMG 5.5 available, too.

Another vote for Supra twin turbo.
I still cant get over the acceleration in this car, especially in Auto.
Not crude IMO,just impractical.
The legacy is a good car but I wasnt impressed with the performance from a my97 manual,so I dont expect much from the auto....could be wrong.

Yup - when I had mine it was running about 400bhp, so quite mild really - I never lost to anything on the road
XKR's, 911's, RS4's, E46 M3's, M5's etc etc etc..... cannon fodder

Well I've just bought a Merc CLK 320 for the wife. Seems "sufficient" (215 bhp) as the driver of the Lotus Elise 135 Sport on the Stortford bypass this evening will confirm
Obviously he wasn't trying round the roundabouts though, as the Merc probably weighs nearly 3 times what his car does.
