Drove one for a week once when it was about 2 yr old, lovely engine, **** driving position and was told "if you hear a whining horrible noise, smack the dashboard here to stop it" Sure enough it made a horrible noise and it stopped when smacked. Apparntly it had been like that for a while and the dealer didnt have a clue what it was or how to fix it and had given up trying One good thing, it had a decent 6 speed box though with well spaced ratios, not just five plus a tall 6th like a lot of six speed cars......

I used to have one, that engine was fantastic. Sound was very addictive, I didn't have a problem at all with mine. The climate control was a bit weedy and it was very nose heavy handling wise but it looked great and sounded even better. Still looks better than a lot of new cars now IMO.

The Alfa 2.5V6 sounds like a V8 Ferrari but uses about the same fuel as a V8 Ferrari, the official figures are around 7mpg less than a Scoob.
The V6 156 is very nose heavy and will scrape the undertray down a bumpy B road.
Ensure it has the Sport pack suspension or you will get car sick. Labled SP1, SP2 or SP3 on early cars or Veloce on later cars, should also come with side skirts.
Usual 156 things apply, make sure all the electrics work, the suspension bushes on the rear arms as well as the front upper and lower wishbones and roll bar links dont last long so listen for clunking suspension. I got through two sets of front wishbone bushes in 22k miles.
Other things that will bug you are the interior trim rattles, the appaling turning circle and the Climate Control is next to useless in hot weather.
Did I like mine? Yes
Would I buy anothey? No
Cheers
