off road cheapie
Will need some sort of cheap pick up type vehicle shortly to whack around a hilly farm. Thinking of a pick up because of its versatility.
Im leaning toward a Toyota pick up, primerily because of top gear and their attempts and killing one and failing!
Will need to be reliable and cheap, so less than £1500, 4*4 drive and im undecided as to diesel versus petrol.
Have seen some in autotrader around this money, but some pointers would be nice to this model and perhaps similar vehicles.
Any comments?

Purly for cheapness and fun you can't beat a little Suzy SJ413/Samurai. Mega cheap go-anywhere vehicle. Get the soft top one and take the back seats out (10min job) if you need a pick-up. Nippy little things as well.

Watch 'A 4x4 is born' on Discovery Home and Leisure. The number of Suzuki SJ's people use at trials these days is amazing. No wonder you rarely see them on the roads now there all being used in trials up and down the country.
If the terrain your going to be driving on is VERY hilly I would suggest some proper off-road tyres and for safety, an external cage like the trial boys'n'gals use.
