I just dropped the 996 in at my OPC and they gave me a CLK 320 elegance auto as loan car

I wouldn't class it as sporty (don't know if it's meant to be) but what a bloody good drive! Smoother than a snake's slippery bits! It's like driving around in your lounge, sooooo comfortable! It's not too slow (not too fast though), but all in all, a lot better than I thought it would be.

I'd have one as second car for the motorway runs. A lot more comfy than either of my two BM's (E36 coup & cab)

I had a CLK430 - faster, better sounding but 11mpg still not a sports car but pulled hard

I borrowed a new 320 for a weekend and a 500 for half a day. I'd call the 320 very pleasant and a comfortable tourer, sounded good and went as well as you need for most drives. The 500 was ... quicker and surprisingly sorted... but out of my price league as well

If it was meant to be a sports car of any kind, then it was awful. But as comfortable cruiser, it's difficult to fault.
