What is general opinion on dump valves for MR2 turbo Revision 3 my friend has just bought a bailey and says the lag time seems to have increased!

They're fine on Rev 3/4 and 5's - the only problem was with the Rev 1 and 2's.

I have had the standard recirc and an HKS SSQV on mine and couldn't tell the difference with regards to lag.

The general concensus of opinion is that recirv dump valves are the best way to go on any car - and that people use DTA Blow off valves just for the noise!

On MR2 Turbos (i had one and loved it!! ) leaving the standard one in or an uprated recirc is best for performance.

Saying that I'm what some people may class as 'childish' as I like the whoosh noise that a dump valve makes so have one on my Impreza!!!

So to all those that dont like them

Cheers

Just fit induction - then you can hear the standard recirc's anyway

Induction is crap on an MR2, destroys low down torque

Good point , but they're dirty things that should be banned, especially the atmos ones. Who wants their car to sound like it's got a cold?

Most dump valves I come across are on sh1te cars, some chav rude boy from Peckhem in modified golf turbo, that gets beaten by mopeds, just sounds daft, almost acceptable if you've got a mightly fast car - so Mr2 Turbo you might just get away with it!
