Evening all.

It's a real pain.....

My MY04 UK STI has covered but 2500 miles, and I am facing a new job which will see my private mileage go from about 12k to 40k per year.

I am struggling with the prospect of fuel bills greater than £6 grand per year.....

Saw a new Volvo V50 at the weekend; diesel; 136bhp, 236lb ft, allied to the chassis from the next generation Focus.

Any comments (serious, if possible.... )

I like the look of them ... never driven one though. Don't they have the Ford TDCi diesel motor? If so, there's nowt wrong with the engine.

It has the new Ford/PSA diesel motor. I've only sat in the car and been impressed, as I was too pushed for time to drive it. The engine is a beauty though in its other applications, so no reason to doubt it here.

Just been reading up about the Honda Accord 2.2 diesel too.... seems to get a very good press. Funny looking motor though.

Just something very "sensible" and "together" about the Volvo that appeals....

Off to buy a pipe and slippers now
