Alfa 156 Gta

Alfa 156 Gta
Had an interesting run up against a Alfa 156 Gta down the A12 north of Ipswich the other day in my 02 CTR. Nice bit of road which involves nice smooth dual carridge way and quite a few roundabouts.
Performance was amazingly similiar, he did manage to pull away a bit coming out of the roundabouts mailnly i'd guess to him being able to get his foot down first but once up and running he did'nt pull away and under braking i pulled right up to him, he only really got away when speeds got above what the CTR is supposed to top out on . Nice car and he even gave the thumbs up when he pulled off.

Had the driver had a spine transplant, 3" removed from his legs and grafted onto his forearms? I drove a regular 156 for a few days and it was so unfortable I could barely face driving it. The driving position was a disgrace.
However lovely they look, I wouldn't take one even if it came with Carmen Electra in a cowboy hat and stilletoes in the passenger seat. OK, well maybe I would, bit I wouldn't drive the damn thing....

Nothing this side of a Ferrari sounds as good as an Alfa V6GTA.
Just a shame about Alfa's build quality and dealers. I owned a 156 Selespeed Veloce for 2 years, I loved the way the car drove but had loads of niggly faults such as suspension bushes and rattles. The dealers were that useless i changed the front wishbones myself even though the car was under warranty, it was less hassle than getting the dealers to do it and I knew it would be done right.
At 60mph+ I'm suprised he didn't pull away from a CTR though, the two I have driven felt quite a bit faster than a UK Scoob at higher speeds.
Cheers
