Any idea on what diesel car ?
The mrs might have the chance to have a company car.
Its got to be diesel and not priced much above £13500, so she wont pay too much on tax etc.
Done a fair bit of research on various cars etc and had a look at what you get for the money.
Silly it sounds but, at the moment the one coming out on top is the Skoda fabia VRS, 1.9 turbo diesel, 130bhp and 310NM/Torque, pretty powerful for a little car and you get basically everything as standard, alloys, aircon etc etc etc. Also less than £12K and very cheap tax each month.
Anyone got any other sugestions on different diesel cars in this price bracket or can anyone comment on what the Fabia VRS is like ??
Cheers
Marc.

It's very good indeed! Quick, handles tidily enough, and cruises well to boot.
It's not a hot hatch per se - too much understeer, too much weight at the front - but it's still a lot of fun to drive.

The Fabia is a good car - but the current Octy with that engine is too although a little heavier but now with pretty good price reductions. A simple remap gives 180+ bhp and lots more torque for £400 making them quick

Might be worth seeing what the Seat Leon / Ibiza come in at, I think they may fall under £13.5K.
I drove a Fabby vRS 2 weeks ago, it's a very quick car. Huge grunt in such a little bodyshell, got all the toys too.
As said above, handling isn't up to much but it is safe and predictable. Well worth a test drive.

Ive got a Vrs Fabia as a second car and its just been chipped, Its much more fun than my scooby cos I can drive as hard as I want and not keep watching the petrol gauge.
If you go on www.briskoda.co.uk you can find abit more about this car and other skoda or vag model cars...
If you ask for Ross Clarke who works for AMD he will give you the ins & outs of this engine, he as a Vrs and its lowered and chipped with S/s exhaust and an air filter I also think he as a bigger turbo on it IHI i think???? He his pushing out 200+bhp and nearly 400lb ft of torque.
It may still be a skoda but underneath its a golf GTI!
