Default Thinking about a Z3 M Roadster

I'm looking for a soft top for the summer, allways wanted one so I'm thinking I'll just go for it this year.

I'm going to be doing a drive once a week from Warwick to Newcastle (around 450 mile) round trip once a week so I need some comfort so VX's elise's are out of the question.

I have been looking at prices of the Z3M, and they seem fairly resonable for what you get.

Has anyone one here had a good or bad expereince of these cars.

Thumbs up

From what I've heard they're good cars, can be lively back end wise and you need to get a specialist to make sure the VANOS timing gizmo is ok before buying or it can be a big bucks repair.

Cheers,

cal

Cheers Cal,

I'm not sold on the inside, dare I say it but its a bit focus RS on the blue cars. I may consider a 1998 or 1999 M3 Convertible instead, plus it has the extra seats.

I had the use of a Z3M Coupe in Germany for a couple of years. Absolutely fabulous car. I've heard the chassis on the M Roadster isn't quite as solid (to be expected, probably, being an open top) but you'll likely never find out as you really have to be pressing on to find its limits.

I can understand your feelings on the interior, but mine had black leather only (in a black car) so was really easy on the eyes. Not all blue ones have the black & blue leather. If you hunt around, you'll find one with black only which, as said above, is much easier to live with.

Great cars, fabulous engines. Don't let anyone tell you you're a hairdresser

Make sure the side windows are nice and clean as you'll be looking out of them more than the windscreen on a twisty road!

You can forgive those looks for the noise and performance - can you cope with all that unruly power? If so then there's nothing else like it short of a TVR and that will be a right headache compared to a Beemer. Otherwise you'll need an M3 with all the traction control goodies.

Whether its a Z3M or roadster or M3 convertible check its got BMW warranty which should cover the VANOS unit if it goes as its temperamental and costs big £ to repair.
