Default Vauxhall out of warranty....will they? wont they?

While our Astra was under warranty it had a problem whereby the throttle body was choking itself causing the engine to stall and jerk at random. We took it in and they diagnosed the problem as a faulty throttle body, despite me asking for a new one under warranty they said they'd just clean it out this time but the next time they'd replace it.

However, the "next time" has come along with the same troubles as before but this time its out of warranty.

Because it failed while the warranty covered it do you think I'll be able to get a new body out of them?

Worth a try, push hard on their previous failure to address it properly. If you don't get anywhere with the dealer, try Vauxhall's central "customer care" line.

I've had good results in the past with Fords ... got a new starter motor for my old Mondeo and a complete new engine wiring loom for my father-in-law's Escort for free, both out of warranty.

Play the card that a throttle body is NOT a "service item" but should last for the life of the car, etc etc.

Be prepared to write a couple of letters too ... good luck
