There was a thread a bit ago, which I think was in here, which in one of the posts contained an url for a site which gave quotes for cars that were considerably cheaper than rrp. Can anybody remember what it was cos I've forgotten what it was, who posted it and what thread it was in, so a search was useless. TIA

Hi Bex,

I'm not sure which site you are referring to, but, when I was looking for a car for my wife recently, I used www.autoebid.com to try and guage what sort of prices we should be paying from a dealer.

The idea behind it is that you put in a request for a specific make and model and then dealers "bid" for your business based on the discount etc that they are prepared to offer..i.e. the cheapest gets the business.

Now, you dont need to actually put a request in as they have an RRP and then a guaranteed price that they should be able to price the car at...might be of use anyway.

If it was for fords there was a company called something like united counties motors - but can I the heck find it !!!

It wasn't for fords, it was one which would give you a quote for any new car, and the difference was quite a bit (couple o thousand ish)
