Thumbs up Bought my dream car today.

After years of yearning and working up to it, I have finally taken the plunge and bought the car i had always dreamed of: a 993 TwinTurbo Porsche with the factory upgrade engine to 430BHP. I do not physically have it yet as dealer is having it serviced, but I cannot wait to get it!
Any regulars from N.E Scotland who want a short run will be welcome.

A fine, fine choice of car. I'm green with envy! What colour have you got?

PS - if you happen to get lost on one of these trips and end up in the Midlands, I'll happily be co-driver to get you back on track...

Bought from a dealer south of London who is taking my 993 C4 in p/ex.
I agree about the air v water cooled. I could have stretched to an early 996TT but much prefer 993 shape and character.

Have to say that this is one of the few things on my "things to do before I'm 40/die/etc" list.

I think all car enthusiasts should own a 911 turbo at some point in their lives...

Nice one Dave - so you decided against the Boxster S then? No doubt you'll be over on Stuggart 9s

Already had an E 36 (which I liked a lot). However I had to abandon it in snow on 2 occasions near Aberdeen as it had Zero traction. Also like the new one but it is not really in the performance league of a 993 TT!!
After the M3 , I had a 400BHP + R34 Vspec Skyline and it is second only to the Twin Turbo in my favourite cars.

Erm? Choice of a 993 Turbo or an M3. I hope you weren't serious.

Why not?

I started looking for a 993TT but ended up with a 996C4. While I believe that the 993TT is the best looking Porsche ever built (including the 959) and it is a more focused drivers' car, if you value a comfortable/practical interior and running costs then a 993/E46-M3 is a superior package - IMHO of course. A test drive confirmed that for me.

Have been in one, awesome, I love the way your legs seem to try and lift off the floor cos its at an angle, the only car I have ever been in that felt like a quick bike.

Dave

Whats your oppinon of the 996TT as I maybe thinking of getting one of these.
I also notice from this thread that you have had an E46 M3 and a R34GTR
How would you rate all of these cars, in what order would you place them in, and IYO which is the most exciting to drive?

In answer to your questions, I have always been a fan of air cooled 911's. I also love the 993 TT shape. I do not like the design of the 996TT as much although it is a more modern car inside.
I did not own an E46, I had an E36 which was quick, built beautifully, was totally reliable, gave great fuel consumption- but no grip or traction in snow (whic we do get in Aberdeen).
Skyline was stunning: brutally fast, fun to drive, practical as an every day car - with poor fuel consumption. ONLY reason I sold it ( to a very good friend who really wanted it) was the temptation to keep upping the power.
Another friend here in Aberdeen has done that and now has 800+ BHP from his Vspec 2 R34 ( it won one of the sections of TOTB last year).
For the past year I have had a 993 C4 which has been the best of the bunch. Hence why I am moving on to the 993 TT.

No problem. I am an "older gent " now ( proven by my quote of under £600 fully comp on the TwinTurbo). I have loved cars since I was a little boy and would have done anything to get a spin in a high performance car. Still remember a friend of my father taking me out in his E Type 3.8 in the 60's.
So am happy to give any performance car fanatics a short spin.

Thumbs up

Hey Dave another Aberdonian here, I was also thinking about a 911 in the next couple of years, currently I have a 03 STi. I love the 993, my other halfs mum had the limited edition 993 C4 which was beautiful with the flared arches. I'll keep a look out for you, anything distinctive to mark you out from the crowd i.e. private plate. If you see a WR Blue Sti, XX MKR it's me so give me a flash

Marc
