Clio 3.0l v6 - Anyone have one? Or experienced one?
Looking at one at a local dealers on Saturday, not really that serious but just fancied a go in one, had an encounter with one when I had the Scoob and they are undoubtedly quick. EVO rated it but are they worth the 18k on a 51 plate....

The v6 is quick, but unless the driver was not trying, I am surprised how far behind he was by the time I got into 3rd gear.
I expected it to be closer, as he was in the newer 250bhp version!
Would have probably got one, as it was loads cheaper than the evo, but I just could not have a 2 seater car...shame, as they are rare and fun cars.

The stick on body kit on the MK1 is bloody awfull. Have a look closely, looks like its been glued on by a small boy having his first go at an airfix model.....Not much quicker than the 172 either. I would think the Cup would give it a realy scare.....
Mk2 is supposed to be much much better sorted

The older Clio V6 is slower to 100 than the Civic Type-R so i'm not supprised that it was behind the EVO, however i'm led to believe that the new one is a whole different kettle of fish.
They do look smart and i'm sure the mid range grunt is there in masses.

The down side is they increased the power but added another 70 odd kg to boot

I am guessing this is a MK1 cos it's on a 51 (I think)

The 230 was renowned for having very tricky handling in the dry, and near-lethal in the wet. The 255 (2nd gen) is supposedly much better and is rated as a better point-to-pointer than the Evo or Scooby, although not as quick off the line.
The 230 was only ever released in silver, as far as I'm aware. The 255 comes in blue or red as well, but the cowling around the vents in the sides remains silver.
Cracking looking car, cracking handling, useless to put stuff in (luggage space - holdall under the bonnet, passenger seat) and you'd be lucky to get it out of the showroom without the help of the AA. But testosterone overrules the head in these cases...

A 51 plate would be the old one. Not all that quick and doesn't have a good rep. The new one is much better. Very positive reviews all round and Clarkson had it in his top ten fave cars of all time. The only car Top Gear thrashed round the track that didn't break.
Still not massively quick but a lot of fun.

I know I know, the only reason we had a go is because Meg said it looked "sweet" ( ) so not wanting to pass the opportunity of getting another silly car on the grounds of it looking "sweet" it would have been silly not to have had a go. It was pretty dull though and even if the new one is much better I doubt I'd get it... I just felt it was trying to be the best of both worlds but IMHO it failed.

New Integra type R does look and sound the danglies mate , though the last t'eg is no slouch either...£9k for a UK spec '99 car with A/C and you'd be laughing.
I'll bet you end up with a new Mini Cooper

Nice Mark, very nice... I know how much you like my hand-me-downs. You just want it in a couple of years from now don't you
Integra is an interesting idea... Not considered one of those, will have a nose around the Honda dealers this week... Imports worth looking at?

I would'nt go to Honda UK for even a UK Teg now. I currently own a 02 CTR and recently moved into a new house, and was looking at selling the CTR and getting a UK ITR as they're a bit cheaper. I was offered 1st option on a minter that went into Gordons Honda in Bolton after pestering Honda dealers all over the North West.. Cutting a long story short, I declined as Honda dealers are selling them up to £2k over list price on the pretences that "they're like rocking horse poo to get hold of". Thats not the case when i do a quick 5 min search on Autotrader.co.uk where there are usually some great examples and bargains to be had.
I decided to keep the CTR for the time being whereby i'll be in a better position for upgrading my car in the future.. I'm aiming for the DC5 in a few months (was supposed to be sooner but the house DIY fairy called).
