Question VW Golf 2.0 TDI GT 5 Door Hatch

Evening Folks,
I know very little about Golf's myself but my uncle is looking at trading his Y plate GTI in for a 2.0 TDI GT 5 Door Hatch EU4 MK5........ we are looking around the South Wales or Bristol area, anyone recommend a good dealer ? the list for one of these is £18,530 what do you think he could realisticaly pick one up for as a cash deal ? he may part ex but is more likely to sell pvt as there is already someone interested in his ?

Anyone know of a similar chat forum to this used by the VW crowd ?
Any help would be great

Thanks
Simon

PS feel free to PVT message or mail me, just in case i loose track of this thread......... i am still getting used to this new layout

Nothing off from a dealer. The only way to get a discount on that model is to try a broker. You might get a grand or so off, but that's about it. Autocar was on about all this a coouple of weeks ago.

Thanks Reffro i will suggest that to him, seems these days the minute you want to do a cash deal no one is interested....... it's all the kick backs they get from finance packages i bet.
His dealer has become very sloppy in the way they conduct there buisiness and was not interested at all when cash was mentioned, he said he is not going back to them

Can you recommend any decent brokers ?
I have never used that method before.

Cheers
Simon

You can get £1610 off list from www.broker4cars.co.uk - not to be sniffed at.
Sell the old one privately. The car will be from a VW main dealer, not an import and they will deliver anywhere in the country included in the price. I got my Audi through the aforementioned site about a month ago.

If hes not a badge snob get him in a Skoda, Octavias are built on the same floor pan,& all bits are sourced from the VAG parts bin. Arguably better screwed together & thousands cheaper. With the new Octy due out in June (dosent look a lot diff to the old one) he could really screw the dealer down as well. He should be able to get the L&K which is top of the range, will be much better specced than the Golf & cost a load less. Its got climate & a sun roof, full leather, heated seats, mirrors, 6 CD changer with loads of speakers 5 alloys Xenons, Cruise control
(yep alloy spare as well) 3 year/60000 warranty etc etc . I think they are also doing free finance at the moment
Our local VW dealer has recently changed to Skoda & they had been selling VW's for as long as I can remember.

We took a "slightly" modded Octavia on the Cannonball this year, ragged the **** off it for 3000 miles, nothing broke & it didnt even come back with a single rattle & we finished 19th !!

have a look on www.briskoda.net

Why should a cash deal make any difference to the dealer?
Its no different to a finance package at 0% or the dealer is actually worse of as he will get cheap money from the finance coy for his stocking plan.
If there is a px that is just taken of the sales price.
"Cash is king" does not happen in the car industry now unless the salesman wants you to believe you are getting a special deal for cash.

It makes no difference to the dealer as long as he gets his money.
