With all the talk on these boards about having Pug 205 GTIs, Ive started thinking about getting another one, as I used to have an 89'F 1.9GTi in graphite grey
I spent quite a bit on it, and had it rebuilt to 160bhp, decent suspension, and quite the best brakes I have ever used.
Now Im getting the bug to get another one as a kind of project to get my hands dirty again(Nissan+Toyota do have very good reliability)and to have a bit of fun with.
Thinking of getting a cheap 1.9 with a duff/ropey engine, stripping interior, lowered suspension, brakes, then a decent specced 1.9 8v motor with a 1.6 g/box and an LSD.
Should I / shouldnt I ????

Absolutely!!
Heres my Mi16 to whet your appetite with 168-170bhp
Needs engine work, but otherwise mint:
A guy on 205gtidirvers.com is selling a nice steel grey 1.9, which IMHo is the best colour ever, and v rare - reckon you could get that for £1k, its a J reg.

F'ing typical, I went to look at a pug yesterday, only to drive 60 miles there to find theyd provisionaly sold it
Anyway, get home and the other one Id got lined up to view was not available till 2130(who goes to view a car that late) and then he was going away for a fortnight
THEN ... went out in the MR2 today, runs rough as hell.. so I check out all the usual bits - plugs/filter etc, then it wont start !!! I eventually get it going but without the afm connected (ecu says it fubard), phone toyota and they want £560 for the pleasure , so I stripped it down to discover it had gone short !!, 20mins later and I had unshorted it, put it back on the car, and first turn of the key it fired straight up. So with fingers crossed, took it for a run, no problems at all... put it all back in properly and resealed the unit, took for another(more enthusiastic) drive only to start feeling dodgy vibrations through the steering wheel, get it home, and the f/n/s strut has pissed its contents out all over everything under the arch(afm fine though )
So, just been on the phone to find a pair of struts and toyota want £280 all in, and a jap spares place want £230 all in for second hand units
Looks like 'project tarmac chewer' is gonna go on hold for a month or two

Best car I have ever owned, .................until my MY 00 ppp wagon
Had 3 in quick sucession 1.6 then 2x 1.9 and found the 1.6 to more of a hoot, if a bit less grunt.
The F plate graphite one I had was nicknamed Damien as it was the most unlucky car ever (nowt major though) and when I sold it, the dealer said that the rear tailgate was sprayed badly. It was the only bit that was original Peugeot paint.
Happy days...
