My Dad has been trying to sell his Volvo S40 1.8i for around 9 months now, the car is very clean inside and out. Its has VERY low mileage for and 'R' reg (39000) miles and has full service history. But he just can't sell it, there has been people come round to look at it, they hum and arr for a bit them let him down, he even had one guy put a deposit down and then backed out saying the insurance was to high(cooked up story i think). The car is at a decent £3500 ONO, look in the sellers guide they say sell at £4000 for a clean A1 motor. He bought a Legacy and is now a bit skint because of not being able to sell the Volvo.
Any advice on selling this motor would be greatly welcomed, he's advertised in numerious papers, automart , ad-mag ECT.

reduce the ssking price to £3000. if it won't sell it is because the price is too high - the prices given in Parker's are usually OTT. anything will shift at the right price. alternatively, put it on ebay and some joker will probably bid it up to £10k

4,500 for a six year old Volvo ?, I paid 3 grand for a Y reg Mondeo with 44k on, cars are cheap nowadays it just running them that is costly, I would say that the 3 grand would be nearer the mark

1. Wait until March
2. Is it white or another undesirable colour?
3. The 1.8 is underpowered and, let me guess, it has no leather or aircon - that is the sort of thing buyers are looking for now.
4. CAP Black Book January would indicate £2800 - £3100 trade in, so advertise for about £3200 and come down.
5. Advertise on Auto Trader (or in SAGA magazine)
Let us know how he get's on.

The wifes car got smashed under a tree last Wednesday and so I have spent the last few days looking for a small car (Justy/Fiesta/Metro/Uno/Micra) ..... one thing I have noticed, and it amazes me - every single car I have rung up about is still there, some are 'very' clean too! Looks like we have bought a Micra with 47,000miles on it and FSH, very straight car AND I just went in with an offer of £700 under what they were asking, PLUS I want them to MOT it as the MOT runs out in April - they have contacted me today to accept the offer ....................
cars just ain't worth ANYTHING!!!
Great if you're buying - moral of this? PRICE dictates!
