The digital orange digits have packed in on my Audi's climate control display , can just make it out thro the day ,but obviously at night its u/s, anyone have any ideas on a DIY fix?

Don't know of any Audi forums - if the climate control units are the same as VW's (I know that VW / Seat and Skoda use the same, so possibly Audi do too) - may be worth checking out VWVortex or ClubB5.com. Possibly even www.briskoda.net
