Audi door sensor
#1
The rear passenger door on my 1999 A6 estate only occasionally registers that the door is open on the dash display thing, and hence only sometimes puts the footwell light and door edge light on. I guess it is the sensor switch that is problem. Anybody know where it is please?
I have posted on the Audi forum at Pistonheads but there is rather more traffic here.
Thanks
Tim

I had the same thing on the drivers door in the S3 - it would not register as being shut so the interior light would stay on. Took it to the dealers and they sorted it.
It was a door sensor as you say.

Don't know about that particular car but on many newer cars the switch is inside the latch mechanism in the door so there is no visible switch outside. Involves removing the door trim and may be a fiddly job so if you're not too mechanically minded might be worth taking it to a garage.
Have a good look to make sure it doesn't have a standard pin switch somewhere on the outside though, older Audis definitely do!
