I have a ford escate diesel estate as well as a scooby. As the ford is my day to day car i need more power.
Is there anyway that the boost can be cranked up?.
I seriously need more power as its frustrating. Please dont muppetize this as its a serious question.

Thanks

What model diesel is it? TDCi or TDi?
You can buy tuning boxes which will give you quite a big jump in power and torque. I have a TDCi which has 115 bhp as standard. If I fit a tuning box it will jump to around 136 bhp and 300nm of torque. Which should make quite a difference for under £400.
Do a search on the web and you will come up with quite a few companies that supply them.

Yeah you need to tell us a bit more! be a bit more specific and you'll get better answers

Model year, engine size, Turbo?

The old ones use just standard old fashioned pumps, so all you can do is get a specialist to tweek the fueling. Whilst the newer Turbo diesel variants had some basic electronic control that you can get "plug in" boxes for.

Essentially its a Ford Escort diesel: they are one the slowest diesels out there (obviously the lastest focus/mondeos etc. are a hell of alot faster).

The Escort estate has a mechanical fuel injection system, and cannot be chipped or electronically modified in any way. It has 75 bhp in TC non intercooled form, or 90 bhp in the Ti intercooled version.
Any modifications will have to be mechanical to increase power.

ok few more details needed then. its a 99 t reg. it has the intercooler and is not the tdci its just the normal td.
and i agree its very slow but any relatively cheap mods would be good.
As its a company car i dont really care if its wrecks it i just need more power.
as for the turbo i have no idea what type it is.

where would i be able to get some tweaking done, or is it something that i can do myself?.

Stu @ Motorsport Developments tunes turbo diesels amongst other things... He can also fit a dump valve (BOV) and controler as well if you fancy one!!

If you want his number just look on his web site www.motorsport-developments.co.uk.

Very knowledgable bloke.
