For the wife & kids

Would like nearly new for about £10k.
The Seat Ibiza 130TDi doesn't fall into that category sadly (and my wife has a Leon and we don't care too much for the dealer!)
My concern about the Jazz is the 'aged image' - unless this isn't true?

Another vote for the Jazz, we just got one, 1.4 iDSI SE (10,560 including metalic paint and tail gate spoiler and a few other bits).
Then bought some after market alloys for circa 500 inc tyres.
Great car, as PG said very versitile plus 3yr or 90K miles warranty + full euro AA cover for 3 years.
SE spec includes sun roof, aircon, abs, CD player, power steering and all the funky interior bits the SE Sport comes with. The SE Sport (11,500) in addition has 15" alloys and side airbags - not worth the extra 1000 quid IMO.

Thats one of the things that got me, such great pre and post sales service from our Honda dealer - he even chased Honda UK about the Mugen twin exhaust for the Jazz (unfortunately a no go, unlike on the S2000).
Don't know about the Micra - looks bloody awful IMO.
As for the Yaris, its a smaller car than the Jazz, length wise, so less room if you've got 4 passengers - and I don't think it looks as good, personally.
Things I can recommend on the Jazz for the tart factor are:
tail gate spoiler
alloy gear ****
kick plates (door step garnish)
B Pillar decoration (cool stickers)

Yes, the dealer is getting a Jazz from another branch with the full bodykit for us to try (for a couple of days!). It's an ex-demo with 1500miles selling for around the £10k mark.
Full bodykit and Honda Jazz, hmmmmmm. Not sure.

Honest, it looks good! Only thing is the car would need to be dropped 20-30mm (Eibachs are available, already checked with TSL ).
Take a look at the 'Fit' section (Fit is the Japanese name for the Jazz) on http://www.mugen-power.com/street/

Thanks for the link DrEvil.
I like the twin pipes on the silver Mugen! It's actually a smart looking car - bit like the Civic, in that the normal trim looks quite fuddy-duddy, but the 'Type-R' trim looks menacing.
Thanks.

No worries - the possibilities are endless - well sort of..
I like the twin zorst too, and will be looking into sourcing the:
front grill
bumper
front skirt
side skirts
rear bumper for twin zorst
and the twin zorst
At some point next year... may also look at get a set of the NR alloys (i think they're the ones the misses liked) to go with the kit... of course finances permitting (after PPP and ice on the STi8)
Go on you know it makes sense

no dont get a french car be that either Citroen or Peugeot if any remember me from many moons again your'll no how much trouble I had with citroen! Peuegot is slightly better.
Have to vote for the Jazz, I've driven the man. and CVT and both are fine cars (worked for Honda for awhile so I've driven alot of the honda range). Another point in the honda's favour is their customer care is second to none and warranty out of this world Honda do know how to treat a customer right (unlike the french counterparts)

Scores so far:
Jazz 3
YRV 1
Ibiza 1
Citroen -2
Peugeot -2
So any criticisms of the Jazz?
(I will add in defence of Citroen that my wife has had a Saxo 1.1SX and a AX Debut both of which were reliable, nothing fell off, and the dealers were absolutely fine. I had a Xantia 1.6LX (when they first came out) which had a stalling problem when hot - dealer was helpful but couldn't fix it. Jeez that car was boring)

Yeah, I've got one, you can't upgrade the ICE easily, as the headunit is integrated into the dash which includes the aircon controls - AFAIK honda have no plans to introduce a replacement dash panel that will allow a standard single/double din CD player or the like to be installed! However they do an auxilary single din pod for inside the glove box - not much use as you have get a slave device for the main stereo still.
Oh and they do it in that bloody awful nail varnish colour too - people should be shot for buying it in that colour.
Would you believe a woman only bought a Jazz in that colour AFTER she had purchased matching shoes and handbag - a story my local dealer told me!

Wife has had her Jazz for just over a year, and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone. Great value for money, in excess of 50mpg on a run, loads of room. A lot of the time I prefer to drive it around town more than the scoob.
I had the Micra for a few days back in March, was ok but not as good as the Jazz.

Space wise, from memory you could get a small size easily or probably medium size dog in the boot without loosing the back seats. However with the back seats down you could get a washing machine in there easily!

I'll second that. I have never dealt with dealers as good as the Skoda lot, first class.
The Fabia has plenty of room and is good to drive. If you can push an extra grand then you should be able to get a Fabia vRS with PD130, 6 speed box, group 9 insurance and 60mpg, far more interesting to own and drive than a Jazz or Fiesta.
If not the PD100 diesel or 1.4 16V's are fine but look for elegance trim.
Cheers

I've been buzzing around in my Dad's Fabia TDi the last few days, and it was a cracking car - plenty of poke, refined, good economy, well put together etc etc.
A little too soft for my taste, but I guess either some aftermarket suspension, or the vRS, would sort that out.
A really good car imo, and on our list - together with the Jazz - for a closer look. Dog space is a big factor in our choice and the Fabia would need to be the estate though, which may put Mrs Mooseracer off.

MooseRacer - had a look at the boot last night in the Jazz, there is roughly 1.5ft-2ft from the top of the back seats to the bottom of the rear windscreen and the boot tray is about 2.5ft deep - I'll get some proper measurements this weekend if I get time.
