My 4.6 only produces about 240BHP... Does anyone have any knowledge or experience of a company that can uprate this just by re-programming the ECU? Cheers.

TVR power. the ecu on the range rover is set so the rev limit is a lot lower than when in a rover, than when in a tvr. My old 390se had 275 bhp but did run a high lift cam, 10:1 compression ratio, a straight through exhaust, and stainless headers. Oh what fun that was on a damp roundabout!

Chipping won't really give you any massive power gains on the R-V8 IMO. May help the 4.6 run a little cooler as the standard set-up is very emissions orinetated. Doubt you get much MPG improvement...if you want MPG get LPG
It's a combintaion of things that need to be done really. Uprating the cam would be a good step (although there may not be much options for the 4.6 as most cams will have the dizzy and oil pump drive suited to the older 3.5's). A big valve and flowed heads is another good step, with uprated pushrods and rockers. Then you can have the mapping changed to suit the mods you've done.
Potentially you can get big BHP from these engines, but it can't just be done by one or two mods, as many components need to be uprated to keep up.
You could always just drop in a Big-block Chevy engine (aka Overfinch)

Thanks for the tips guys – esp the Mark Adams one.
Used to have a TVR V8 S no cats – I can IMAGINE how well that sounded misty.
Ali B – have you seen how empty my wallet is mate 'just drop in' a new engine' indeed :d
