MR2 Turbo
#2
Yeah, I've got one
The early ones were 220BHP and the L reg onewards were 241BHP as standard (without nasty 4wd transmission losses )
Best thing is that they look like ordinary UK spec MR2's, good for a surprise

And as philz said they look almost identical to the UK spec, which makes driving considerably more fun

I have a Rev1 that has had a LOT done to it, plus a hybrid turbo is going on in the next few weeks.
I'm currently just below 300bhp, it's RWD and a LOT of fun. If I don't hit 400bhp over the winter, I'll be surprised. Now THATS gonna be fun !!!
The thing is, a Rev1 Turbo can be had for £3k nowadays ! Thats a quick motor for £3k !!!

Well all I know is that this MR2 looked like a normal UK one but I'd seen the tiny little turbo badging on its side at the petrol station. I'm sure it was standard, no aftermarket exhausts. Didn't get to have a go 'off the lights' but in gear it was identical to mine.....until I got that 'look' off the missus and backed off. I wanted an MR2 Turbo but got a Fiat 20v Turbo instead.....wish I'd got the MR2 now!

13.3secs for the 1/4 mile according to that video (for a standard Rev 3. The Rev 2 ain't quite as quick)

The 20VT was superb for a front wheel drive car, chassis was good. Had a real nice turbo 'whistle' too of which my Scoob doesn't really. I agree though, it takes ages to find a good one as they cost a fortune when they go wrong. I only kept mine for 6 months.
