2.0 16v non turbo- 150BHP standard- weight is around 840kgs ish.....
Power to weight ratio
2.0 16v turbo - 214BHP, same weight shell....again
But of course nothing could ever be faster than your scoobs....especially a little biscuit tin on wheels...

ive driven my mates nova turbo
6 seed box, the works
infact i was actualy driving it last sunday
of the mark it has no grip whatsoever, cant use the power at all, spins its wheels in 2cnd when it comes on boost, does exactly the same in 3rd if u leave your foot down
1st isnt even used
up at motorway speeds and they can be fooken well fast, easy take a uk car and had its *** back to the owner on a big fat plate
not so sure on a high powerd jdm car tho, time will tell as were both going to elvington in 2 weeks time

freak
its ok mentioning power to wieght ratios
but u have to acount for grip as well
decs car can not put the power down and his is standerd
16" wheels and yokos, its not a "shabby" setup, id consider it one of the better examples, i test drove his on bone dry tarmac as well
it rained later that day, i drove home and hooffed it bigstyle with the minimum of fuss, i honestly would not want to drive his car in the wet
and his is about standerd for power as well
good as a toy, complete ****e to use seriously
imo

Driven my m8s 250ish bhp one. Would love to see the peoples faces who say they wouldnt be beaten. Once they have got traction they'll just reel a standard UK car in like there not there. Also some more high power cars as well.

theres a lad round this way who aperntly had a 200bhpish valver engine in his, only hes took it out to fit a turbo lump?
id rather have a 200bhp na engine in one them a 205bhp turbo engine (more easier to stop them fooken wheels spinning
the corsas are reported to have a lot more grip due to wider track and stuff

I raced one several years ago in my 275bhp 200sx(s13)
I stayed with him up to about 70mph, but as the road straightened he just sailed by
Next roundabout I caught him, this time stayed next to him to about 100 then he gently moved ahead untill we topped out at about 135/140ish with him about four car length's in front of me:O
Lots of whooshing and popping so deffo a turbo, but ****!.. was it quick.....respect was due

It would have been funny watching some of your faces at the scoobyshootout then 2 weeks ago. There was a turbo corsa there that was running 13.1 second qtrs.
If you can beat that with your Stnadard UK or even with a PPP, i would be impressed.
By the tone of a lot of your posts 1vMarc, you like your racing. Next time there is an event at Elvington, late October early November i think, go down and see what you can run, you may be in for a surprise.

A couple of years ago I was a passenger in a mates 2.0 16V Nova when we raced a UK Scoob Turbo on a dual carriageway, from about 70mph upwards. Sorry to say the Nova defninitely had the legs on the Scoob, and with little difficulty it seemed!
After 130 (where the speedo stopped and the needle carried on going) we were a good few car lengths in front.
The look on the face of the fellas bird in the passenger seat was a picture
I drove the thing just before my mate sold it and traction was a joke and enough torque steer to pull you into the nearest lamp post...a few weeks after being sold I heard the wheels fell off or similar...

A mate of mine (rally mechanic) used to have a 1.4 Nova that was tuned to buggery. That was very responsive, and somewhat deafening at high speed. Was miles faster than the standard 1.6 version.
It's hardly a huge surprise though, that a tuned up 2.0 litre engine, dropped in such a light car is going to be faster than a standard version of another heavier car with similar bhp though. I know of Skodas with P911 engines in the back of them that will eat most normal cars.
Be more of a boast surely, to say that the tuned up Nova / Corsa can thrash the pants off another car which has had a similar level of tuning? Like for like etc.
Speaking of Nova drivers; if the imbecile who was "driving" his silver Nova down the M40 on Sat lunch is reading this, you ought to take your test again you cretin. Your childish antics of speeding up to 100+mph whilst undertaking other cars, narrowly missing the back of a certain TT, without indicating is simply mad, and endangers the lives of other road users.

I have and I lost. No shame in it. Spoke to the owner, it was a supercharged 2.0 16V lump in it, running full race suspension and dunlop formula tyres. Add in that it was fully striped and caged with some lovely magnesium wheels, quaiffe dif and racelogic...just over 250bhp and under 800kg, rather brisk

been in 3 quick n0vas, all 2.0 valvers, with varies degress of modding, sitting next to a scooby on the motorway, revving it sitting it on the limiter with the clutch in to 'entice' the scooby to race, then when the arrogant c*nt drops a cog and pulls away, the n0va drops 2 cogs and sails past with fingers up and faces being pulled to annoy scooby driver £1ks worth of valver n0va against £15ks worth of scooby, it's got to be gutting!

I suspect it's no more gutting than the experience that a supercar driver gets, when he/she is mullered by a decent motorbike.
But at the end of the day, you pays your money and takes your choices. At least with a £15k car you can also probably also afford a £1k second car, to take banger racing perhaps

Anyone who races past with "fingers up" is obviously a low life. After all no-one minds being "beaten" fair and square do they? Whatever happened to a friendly wave?
As 99% of Novas I ever see are a load of old crap I'm not too worried. A fast car is a fast car but there is no need to behave like a "arrogant c*nt", to coin a phrase.
