I'm suprised that no on else has mentioned this magazine seeing as there are a lot of MkI Golf and 205 nutters on here.
MrsREV isn't so keen on me getting this magazine as she can see that gleam in my eye, the one that normally ends with me buying a £50 scrapyard refugee and mumbling the words "Rover V8" only for the whole thing to end up getting sold for £25 6 months later after I've lost interest

I've collected all the issues so far.
I used to have a TR7V8 that I still get to borrow for track days...
I recognise lots of the cars in the articles of the magazine. A lot more interesting that all that Max Power/Revs/Fast Car rubbish. So I just buy Retro Cars and EVO now.

I've got all the copies too. It's a brilliant read, a bit like REVS when that first appeared before it whent all maxxy p on us. If anyone remembers GTI/GTEye (cant remember which one) which lasted for about 3/4 issues and then whent down the pan, its very much like that also.

Prodriva, you're dead right about Revs, I loved that mag when it came out, then bam, it's Max Power II.
I hope Retro doesn't go the same way. I see a "bad boy" bonnet conversion for a Ford Anglia and I'm cancelling my subscription!
Reading the article on the Droop Snoot Firenza makes me wish I hadn't scrapped my old Vauxhall Magnum 2300 Coupe
or sold any of my Minis Or written off my Mk2 Escort

I bought the first issue and decided it was a pile of ****. All the adverts are for horribly overpriced shiny bits for minis. And I dont think putting cosworth engines in classic cars make em better - just takes away originality and spoils the character of the car.

LanciaChris - It's not just engines though! Decent mods to handling and braking are encouraged, as seems to be the idea that a proper classic/original looking car but with modern high-performance levels is the way to go.
Lancia Beta Monte-Carlo Spyder with Integrale turbo'd motor and running gear sounds good to me, what about you?

Would rather see the original engines in there myself, rather than say a mk2 Escort with a Cossie lump in making mega power...

I have built several escorts with cossies in, and all you are effectivly changing is the head and adding modern induction and fueling. MK2 escorts are faster than the engines currently in them and a cosworth is a very good upgrade.
Can't see the basis of this arguement unless you are just into showing a standard car, as standard mk2's are pretty lame in all area's, power, handling, fuel ecomeny etc.

Yes mate mine is a retro car with SUPER car speed PMSL......screw the fact its got the wrong engine in it 
Mine is almost complete and should be done in about 2-3weeks time, well on the road and running
Will get all suspension setup n stuff then play with the engine, going for about 440bhp until next year then towards the 550bhp mark.....obviously too much power for the car lol

I always liked the idea of taking the shape of older cars then adding bits.
My idea long ago was to take a MG Midget (the flat sided Midget/Sprite shape one), which is a classic shaped car, add some subtle arches, then modernise the suspension and brakes and add in a K series 2 litre engine, or a Ford Zetec or something.
Would be a very cool car IMHO.
Will defo have to have a read of Retro, seen it, but not read it yet.

You will not be disapointed with Retro Cars, from the sounds of it's a mag you will definatley like.
Does anyone know if theres a web site or something to get more info on the space framed Morris Minor that had a small article in either the first or second issue at the front. Plans included the engine located behind the front wheels partially into the cabin in a touring car stylee???

my fiancee's (first time I've said that - usually just "girlfriend") dad is using my old 309 GTi - still going strong with 170K on the clock - gonna get it back and do it up good and proper eventually - whe I've got somewhere to put it - the garage is scooby's house at the mo.
a great little car, quicker than RS Turbos and 2 insurance groups less - bingo!

DW - There was a midget feature car in the mag not so long ago, with a tuned K-series motor in it. Used as a demo for Piper Cams, IIRC.
Nicely sorted car.
I enjoyed the MGBGTV8 in the first issue. I've seen that slay some modern stuff around Castle Coombe. That's also where I saw the cossie powered Triumph Dolomite - Too say that was going well is rather an understatement.
