Fiesta door card removal help
#1
Anybody know how to remove the window winder on a 93 (L reg) fiesta? Got to change the door mirror and if that centre cap on the winder is supposed to prise out its doing a remarkable job of not cooperating.

The centre cap is part of the winder and will not come off.
What you have to do is turn the window winer so it is pionting straight up, then push the door card in slightly so you can see part of the metal gear of the regulator (you will need to hold your head tight against the door card to look down it properly).
You should see a little metal "C" clip with little flared ends.
Get a long thin screwdriver and push the open end of the "C" clip and it should spring out. Watch the clip as it comes off because it can fly anywhere.
When putting it back together. Put the clip on the winder first and then push the winder on the gear. you cannot put the clip on afterwards.
The job can be a git.

Yeah, what they said Plus you can fairly tug on the far end to aid viewing of the clip, that will **** off never to be seen again!!
When you put it back on, make sure the splines are lined up and then just give it a firm twatting oh and you may want to check that when the window is wound up that the **** is in such a position as to not obstruct your knee

You think that's bad, you wanna start looking at Renaults and Citreons....
Once you've done a few of the festas it's really easy, I worked in a Ford bodyshop though....
My boss is a big Lancia nut, he hates everything Ford too, dunno why
