Does anyone else remember this concept car which was supposed to be a certainty for going into manufacture.

I found a CAR magazine from 2000, in it was this 626 MPS (Mazda Performance Something) which was apparently to be 4WD, twin turbo, 280PS (whatever that is in BHP)and a real alternative to Impreza, Evo, Skyline. There was also to be a 323 MPS, with less power and FWD.

The 626 looked good but I don't rememeber seeing anything else about it since.

Anyone got any info on it ?

Mark check the date, it is a year old.

Anyway Mazda are too busy building the RX8 at the moment.

The Mazdaspeed 323 never made it but the american version did. I doubt they will ever bring it to the UK as it is to be replaced by the Mazda 3 soon.

They are still planning on a Mazdaspeed 6 and I think they are already available/soon to be available in Japan.

So late this year maybe, seems unlikely when the RX8 is also due later this year, that 626 looks good though !
