Cool

Bit o fun

Basically what cars have you owned and driven from the date you passed your test.

Metro City (First car, Horrible, actually got written off by the amount of work needed doing for the second MOT)

Audi 80 SC (Blinding car, lasted 3 years and did at least 60k in that time, never missed a beat)

Sierra 4x4 Turbo Technics (Engine let go after 2 years of ownership part of the engine (conrod) flew out the block ouch)

Audi Quattro (Non Turbo) My initiation into the difference between a car with a great chassis and a car with 4x4 handling see above.

Ford Sapphire Cosworth 2wd (Heavily Modified 430 bhp) a very special car when bits of it didnt break.. and sadly that was often the case, this one taught my how to respect a performance car.. oh and how to loose your savings fast.

Company car a V reg golf GTI (New at the time). Should never have had a GTI badge on it, heavy, slow, and unbelievable boring to drive, went like a sack of potatoes.

Ford Mondeo (Auto) Does what it said on the tin... A-B car... nuff said, no problems, even more boring than the golf.

Scooby WRX RA, so far so good, I actually feel alive for the first time since I sold the cosworth, what a capable car

Anyway thats my history, who's next?

Cheers

Andrew

Ford Fiesta 1.1 - Given to me by my Grandad when he gave up driving and I was at Uni. Amazing how popular you become when you're mobile. Later written off by my sister.

Vauxhall Nova 'Snap' special edition. Basically a 1.2 Merit with alloys and colour coding. First new car.

Peugeot 306 SLDT

Nissan Almera GTi - Fantastic car and very under rated. It was great right up until I was flooring it onto a dual carriage way and a Scooby passed me like I was standing still. Time to change...

Toyota MR2 T-Bar - Very disapoining. I always wanted one but ended up with a lemon. I also found out what 'lift-off oversteer' meant the hard way. Should have brought a Scoob.

Golf GTi 1.8T - Company Car with virtually every option. Nice but definately no GTI. Only had it 2 months before changing jobs.

Audi A3 TDI - Another Co Car. 85k miles in 2.5 years and averaged 55mpg.

Fiat Multipla - This is the wifes car. People either love it or hate it, there's no in between. A great family bus; six seats and a decent boot.

Next - will probably take the cash when the Audi is due for renewal and buy something cheap as a run about and something fun for the weekends.

A couple of nice cars but nothing too excitng. I also get to borrow my boss's SLK when he goes on holiday. Who's next?

Cheers

Steve.

Citroen BX 1.9 D (D reg) - amazing on the fuel, very comfortable, unless you wanted to kip across the back seat - there was an iron support-bar underneath! Just had to be patient while the air suspension woke up...

Citroen ZX 1.9TD Avantage (L or M reg, can't remember!) Ooh the excitement of having a turbo... Less economical though, maybe because I thrashed it. Still - got me from the Midlands to St Ives (Cornwall) in less than 3.5 hours!

Toyota Celica 2.0 GTi (J reg) Loved it. Still love the look of them now. Bright red, pop-up lights, brakes that work, great sound from the stereo, and not too bad on the petrol either. Just liked to drink the oil! Was sorry to see it go.

Impreza Turbo MY97 - current. Haven't stopped grinning yet. Owned for over a year now. Wake up each day and consider selling it for a more sensible motor... then I drive it, and all such ideas are drowned out by the whistle of the turbo and the burble of the flat four.

Probably easier to post this link than write down every one I've had.

Currently at 21 cars in the last 11.5 years and soon to rise again I'm sure.....

I Started off with a D reg red Fiesta 950 popular, it got modified with blue(!) Weller 8 spoke 13" wheels, XR2 springs & more ICE than you could shake a big stick at. Oh it also had a Fido Dido and Kenwood graphic in the rear window

After a year I moved onto a G reg black Orion 1.6i Ghia. I had this for a few years and as parts needed replacing they were uprated. In the end it had Peco BB4 backbox it was lowered 60mm on a full Jamex kit, had the full RS bodykit & again more ICE than you would believe This car was so low with the bodykit on that I had to change my route to work to avoid speed bumps PMSL

After the Orion I decided to grow up and bought a P reg Mondeo TD Ghia X with every single toy, leather interior and electric everything! This was a nice car but after 3 months I decided I wanted a faster car

After a short search I bought an L reg tahiti blue Rover 220GSi, it was absolutely immaculate. It had 30k miles from new and full service history and was totally standard. The first things I added were a K&N induction kit and full Powerflow exhaust. After that I had uprated EBC brake setup on the front and splashed out on a set of 18" alloys. Not long after fitting the alloys a deal came up that I couldn't refuse for my current car, a highly modified Rover coupe turbo.

I bought the car from London with a blown gearbox. Me and a mate managed to replace the gearbox and away I went I have receipts totalling over £20k for the modifications to the car and I paid only a quarter of that!

Not long after buying the coupe I decided that I wanted a track car so bought a Fiesta XR2 from a mate with the intention of rebuilding it and simply using it as a fun trackday car. It is still sat at the end of my drive awaiting fettling

I also recently bought a Rover 216 cabriolet as a runabout, to save me stacking loads of miles on the coupe. This is totally standard and is used as the daily hack. As it has the Honda twin cam engine it's highly reliable and I don't ever care where I leave it. It's also good fun on sunny days to be able to drive around with the roof off

Red face

Here is my list:

1) 1.0 Metro biggest piece of sh!te I have ever owned
2) 1.6 Mark 3 escort fitted with XR3 carb, suspension, dash etc on 14" steels, no spoilers & a 1.6 badge
3) 2.0 Manta GTE. Got crashed into and stolen in a few months of buying it
4) 2.9 Sierra GLS 4x4 with 4x4 badge removed to look like crappy 2.0
5) 2.0 Manta GTE at the same time as above
6) 2.9 Sierra XR4x4 with a £7000 engine very stealthy ex track demonstrator & ex-turbo tecnics car It was converted back to normally aspirated but with higher power then I bought a twin turbo conversion to re-fit with mental engine but got bored
7) 2.8 Sierra XR4i. This lead to fun because once I forgot I was driving a rear drive instead of my 4x4 which I owned at the same time Had a spectacular spin in that one
8) 2.0 Lancia Delta Integrale 16 valve. Probably the worse mistake in my life buying this 2 weeks after buying it I got a company car and I still owned the two above too and it just sits in my garage I spent far too much money on it
9) 1.8 Mondeo diesel estate company car. Strangely loved it to bits
10)3.0 Mark 2 3.0s Capri. Bought dirt cheap with no miles on it and dry stored in my garage with my lancia to this day.
11)1.7 Puma company car. Love this one to bits even with it's faults and lack of power.
12) 2.8 Sierra XR4i again I bought this as a track car but met my fiancee and gave up with cars
13) 2.0 Sierra bought just because I collect crap
14) 2.8i Capri. Never had time to drive it did 500 miles in that one.

Hence why I don't own a scoob & generally can't be arsed with cars

Here goes,,

the years are the car regs not the year i had them

1972 Triumph Toledo (not bad for a first car)
1983 Triumph acclaim (relatively nippy for 1335 cc car)
1985 Audi Coupe GT (great until the head gasket went)
1985 Rover SDI (V8, could shift, auto gearbox bit ropey on mine)
1988 Cavalier 1.8 (1st company car and a pile of cack)
1989 Peugot 405 (forever broken down)
1992 Volkwagen Sirocco GT2 (looked good with the BBS alloys)
1995 Audi 80 1.9 TDI estate (pearl green, and good at wheel spinning)
The year 1998, waiting 6 months for the scoob, so the company gave me over the period

BMW 318I for 3 months, absolute pile of cack..started my hatred off for the 3 series and served well for red mist syndrome when i got the scoob, just to rub it in they then gave me

BMW320I AUTO ESTATE nuff said

August 98, Brand new 99 model UK turbo in silver
July 2001, UK300 with PPP, just 10 months to go and the lease is up, so....
2004.. STI, EVO, JAG RD6 ??

Cool

1 - Mini Cooper. First of the classic Mini revival Coopers back in 1990. Black with 13 inch Revolutions, 1293 stage 3 autosprint engine. Lightened, balanced, knife edged etc etc. Wicked!
2 - Mk2 8v Golf GTI. Big bumpers, stainless exhaust, 17's, smoked lenses. Nice!
3 - Corrado G60. Much quicker than the Golf and better built. Had the charger rebuilt. Still see it around and it's going well
4 - MY94 UK Turbo. One of the first Imprezas to hit the UK. Had the tweed interior LOL. Took it to Amsterdam!
5 - STI Type R V-Ltd. Sonic blue beastie. Widely recognised as one of the quickest standard STI's around. Sold it to a bloke from Wolverhampton who parked it on the street! It's probably been stolen several times by now!
6 - Audi A3 TDI Sport. Fantastic little car. Had it for a month, as a BMW was attracting my attention at a local dealer!
7 - 330d Sport. Best all-rounder I've had (apart from my other one!) 8min47 lap of the Ring, and 43k miles in 15 months. Ace.
8 - Mini Cooper. New MINI to go with car number 9.
9 - GTR33 V-Spec. Sold the 330d and had the MINI and the Skyline. it was good but not great. Needed more power, but the handling was sublime.
10 - 2nd 330d Sport. The slightly revised version with different steering rack etc. Went as well as the first one, but never felt as emotionally attached to it as the previous car. Only had it for 5 months
11 - E39 M5 - Without doubt the Daddy. This is the best car that I've owned. Does everything you could ask for and more. If you have the means, buy one. However, it cost a fortune in Optimax, so I've sold it and await a new 330d Sport.
12 - VW Jetta! ROFL! I've bought a Jetta as my 330d has been delayed! It'll be for sale in a few weeks time. It's a 1990 car with only 1 owner and 47k miles with FVWSH. It's very strange driving an honest old (ish) car that has foibles. I'm really quite attached to it already!

I've also had quite a few bikes........

GSX 600-F . Teapot by name and flaccid by nature! Still, it was my first bike
ZXR750 J2 - Gorgeous Gitane Blue with rock hard suspension. 2nd best handling bike I've owned
ZX9-R B2 - Bit of a bus, but awesome acceleration and induction noise
CBR900 RRT - Ex-IOM proddy bike. Totally sorted chassis and a spot on engine tune. Shame some numpty in a Vauxhall Belmont wrote it off!
CBR900 RRV - Not as quick as the previous Blade, but nicer. had it for 4 years until I fell off! Oops!
Aprilia RSV-R - Wow! Titanium race pipe and chip. Best hadling bike I've had courtesy of Ohlins and OZ Racing.
Hayabusa - Currently for sale as I fancy another Aprilia. Awesomely fast and capable bike. Eats tyres and small children for breakfast. Recently clocked at 186mph at Bruntingthorpe

Impreza Turbo err bought brand new as an impulse buy !
Charade GTti ( grey) the first project
Charade GTti ( red)

Currently running the MY00 Impreza Turbo abd the two Charade GTtis. Don't drive the Impreza much as the Charades are far more fun.

Wink

also, I forgot some of my company cars:

Spartan, Tracked Recce vehicle, 4.2l petrol Jaguar engine, 7 speed, max speed 60kph (both forward and reverse) across country, green & black. Also had a cupola mounted General Purpose Machine Gun (AKA Gimpy).

432 Armoured personal carrier, **** off Roll Royce TD engine, room for 8 tooled up passengers. Gimpy as standard fitment.

Also, countless numbers of Land-Rover defenders, majority have been green. had a white one once or twice whilst visiting yugoslavia in 95

Cool

Erm.....
Nova 1.2 Pants - written off by joy(?)riders.
Pug 205 1.4 GT (Great and still going 14 years and 200K later...)
Audi Coupe 2.2 - written off avoiding a bl***dy cat
Another Audi Coupe 2.2 - well I only had the first one 5 minutes
Audi 90 Quattro 20V - Really getting into 5 pot engines by this point but a bit sensible.
A proper Ur Quattro - What a car. Should have kept it.
Audi S2 - Much under-rated car with a fabulous engine.
TVR Chimaera - Oh yes.

Mustnt grumble.....
