BTW,my neighbour has RSTurbo and he always raved about having 280 BHP and eating my Import scoob ( nearly 300bhp). I had race with him a few times and each time, left him for dead!
If I have to choose between two, I would choose Impreza over Escort. No matter how much faster that Escort could be,I don't care! I am not going just for the speed, I like the combination of the qualities Scoobs provide.
I think all Fords are sh1te anyway!(My apologies in advance to Ford owners )

RST's are a good base for developing a cheap powerful car. And the fact they still are after all these years must count for something. This is more like SSC lmao!
Also take every power clam for a RST with a huge pinch of salt.

then there's your depreciation..
RSTs have hardly dropped a bean in the last 8 years or so
(not that there's that many beans to drop but they seem to have held steady at 2-4K forever)

Dont oyu just hate so much guys that drive other cars and say that they would smoke you on the road......?
Had one of my brothers pals over lst night with his series 1 turbo, which has been bored out to a 1.7 engine, with a garrett T5 turbo, uprated camshaft, full mongoose sytem, uprated ecu etc etc.....
All his pals where saying it was running about 270bhp... Which i difficult to achieve in a RS (but still possible)....
I took a couple of the boys a run in mine and they where amazed.. :-D
Then the guy thats got the RS, and he took me out in his..
Quick car, but not a patch on mine - Although he still insists his is quicker.... Could not race him cause i was going on the p!ss!!
Take it you guys come over this all the time.....? Dont you just hate it.....?
BTW - I got a full mongoose system (including front pipe and downpipe.. And a pipercross airfilter - So got a couple extra HP than normal....

I'll get shot for this, but I think sadly the Impreza is goin the same way. You can pick one up for as little as £4k nowdays & I dont seem to be able to drive down any main road without seeing one.
Are the days of them being special over ??? :-(

It's not a bad thing for scooby guys if they are not being bigheaded.Saying that,I would like to add that some Scoobs will leave some Escorts behind and vice versa, depending upon how modded any of them are!

a friend of mine has a RS TURBO witch has had a 2 liter conversion done and then bored out 2 a 2.1 he has had it on the rollers at around 215 - 230 bhp depending on boost so any one who says they have 280bhp out of a 1.7 is talking a load of bollox. It is a very quick car and once moveing could keep up with my old 93 WRX but off the line u cant put the power down

Off the line the scooby is the quicker car but once moving some of them even give my 4x4 cosworth a run for my money over the 1/4 and i do 12.3`s but really the only good escorts are the cosworths and if it came down to owning a scooby or a turbo id take the scooby.

I had an Escort Cosworth years back. (They did a limited run in a metailic grey I think it was about a DorE plate) That was very quick in a straight line. One also gave me a good run for my money in my scoob once. So although many of them aren't really up to a scoob there are a few dark horses out there.

As the owner of a Scoob and a RST engined fiesta rally car I think I know what I am talking about. I know for a fact that the Fiesta will kill the scoob off the line but it has expensive competition transmission in to cope with the crap traction that standard RSTs have. Yes those RSTs can wind up the boost to a bar ( 180bhpish)easily and cheaply but they can't get the traction and they spin the wheels to third gear in the wet. How many of you get RSTs taking you on when the roads have the slightest bit moisture?

On ish's web site there's a video of Keith's RST blasting an EVO of some description
I went to a rolling around shoot-out a year or so ago at John Nobles and a now friend of mine had a 1.9 power engineering conversion RST and it slaughtered my Escort Cosworth running around 260bhp, the only thing that saved me was his kept hitting the rev-limiter in top
Respect where respects due in my book and don't be surprised if you get left for dead in a straight line, once your rolling

Interesting...most power claims are funny.
We have a genuine 280bhp 1.9 rst, new turbo and more injectors going in soon and it should make over the 300, that will be bout 260 @ the wheels so when it grips - pmsl it will be quicker than most scoob's...
Look @ sunny festa, 178mph rst.....and hits a 120+mph terminal @ santa pod, bit different to the 100mph terminal 9/10 impreza's hit.
Just because some people talk sh1te, don't mean there aint any fast ones
