Impreza turbo vs Focus RS.

I think they mean it can't take 4wd without expensive / extensive modifications.
I assume the next Focus will be designed with 4wd in mind and have a transmission tunnel with the clearance for a propshaft.

Seeing as well are all having a guess I reckon they will either rework a volvo or mazda unit, or rework the duratec unit. Nothing wrong with that duratec unit seems to do the business for the Noble .
Biggest problem with the YB is getting it through the latest euro emissions which will be tougher in 2005.
The current Focus chassis is also unable to take an AWD setup and will have to wait for the new shape next year.

An M3 is MUCH quicker in a straight line but it can't corner.. or should I say the average driver doesn't know how to make it corner.
Thus, on a twisty road the M3 can easily lose out to the RS and presumably the Impreza etc.
Top Gear had the M3 about 0.2 seconds quicker around their track than the Focus RS, which demonstrates why straight line performance isn't the be all and end all.
Nevertheless, next time I'm in Germany on an autobahn, I know what car I'd prefer to be in!!

Depends on the Impreza. A standard UK one it'll be nip and tuck. When you get into modified or STI territory then it's bye bye RS, given drivers of similar ability/*****.
Personally I love the look of the RS

In a straight line it'll be quicker than a new age WRX, I think.
However a UK classic should be quicker to the 1/4. These figures have been posted many times on other threads!

I think the RS will be strggling to 60 due to grip off the line but I think the RS will hit 100 quicker. Only 2 wheel drive so once its rolling it will be getting more GG's onto the tarmac than the Scoob
Like everything else it will depend on who's behind the wheel!
I too think the Focus looks very nice, but I couldn't be arsed to wait for one personally

P U L E E Z E !!!!!!!!!!
Why oh why do we have to keep having these bloody discussions!
Scoob ownership is not about "my car is faster'n yers" in a straight line; it's about the fact that Scoobs'll leave just about anything behind in the twisties, particularly when it's chucking it down and yer on a typical UK-style B-road. IN other words it is the best value-for-money 365-day-a-year fun-car, more smiles/mile than nearly anything else (particularly if yer a Scoob owner and just like the marque).
With that in mind, there is no further discussion about which is prettier or has the best badge, newest registration, best go-faster bits etc, etc, etc.
Fer ***** sake!!!!!!

For what its worth going back a few weeks ago at Castle Combe a Focus RS was out on the same session as the Scooby lot (think the RS owner comes on here and is ex Scoob owner!?). He came out first on the session and went in first as no other car came anywhere near him on the day. Not forgetting that Combe isn't a straight line AND has some TWISTIES I thought the guy done well
Have a read back on some of the previous posts about the Scooby v's FRS and you'll see some constructive reading, as well as mis-informed opinions as well....
There both nice cars IMO and I've owned all sorts over the years, but drive a mileage muncher of a BM now days as I'm getting on a bit lol
Either way, have fun with what you've got as there always something out there quicker.
