WRX v Turbo Technics 205
#1
Anybody know how these two compare to each other. My mate has just bought a stripped out 205 tt from the pug forum. needs a bit of doing up but just wondering how it compares to an my93 wrx.
it does seem very quick.
anybody know. I think its 170bhp on high boost.

i think they have a 0-60 time of 6-6.5secs in the dry. wrx (classic shape) would **** on it i think as the problem with the pug is getting the power down through the front wheels.
in gear the pug may well be quite quick. a mate put an Mi16 engine in his 205 about a year ago, that was 160+bhp. gotta say a scooby would have left it for dead. however, a turbo engine will pull strong from lower revs and have much higher torque too.
didnt the 1.9 engined 205 used to be 210bhp at one point from turbo technics? that would be a bit different

If it's got 170bhp, that's ~20% less than a standard 93 UK scoob, and the weight is probably ~20% less? So, with lower drivetrain losses, I'd expect it to be at least holding on to if not beating a UK scoob from about 40 or so upwards (whenever it can get its power down). 93 WRX is 240bhp (?) so should be a little quicker, but still wouldn't expect there will be a lot in it. If the pug has got >200bhp, I'd back it to win the race once it can get it's power down. Traction off the line is probably the only thing "spoiling" it's 0-60 time.

The 170bhp is on high boost which is 10psi (TT quoted 175bhp BTW). There should be a dyno chart from Power Engineering in the paperwork somewhere
The car is a bit quicker than a ITR in a straight line and out of corners, mostly due to the extra torque and less weight. I really miss that car, glad its finally ended up with someone who is looking after it <me wipes tear from eye>

Just recently sold my 205 TT which I had along side a 52 plate WRX for a while. The 205 was modded quite highly >250bhp and stripped out and would kill the impreza when it was going, however the car was a tw@t to drive due to the excessive power and torque and front wheel drive. On a slightly damp road the car would pick it's wheels up in forth if floored. Once goign however it was a different story. The car was less than 900kg so close to 300bhp/tonne. They are bloody good fun but hard work to drive and a pig if it is even slightly wet.

will be interesting to see how it compares to mine then once he has sorted it out. Turbo needs replacing at the minute as its blowing and the flange has gone.
14500rpm, it looks very suspiciously like your one. Dont happen to live near the bromsgrove area do you?.

i live in SE London but it was mine once! The current owner (pete) mentioned that it did OK against his mates 260bhp scooby in a thread on the 205 forum so i'm guessing thats you

must be your old one. yeah my mate is pete. what he didnt mention that i was in 5th at the time. still its blowing bad at the minute so will be good to see what its like when its done.
i like the quickshift on it. nice and short have to get one for my scooby.
was it stripped out when you had it?.

The car had the standard half leather in it when i had it, its a shame it was taken out because it was in really good condition - no cracks on the leather like most 205's have, and only a slight tear on the drivers seat at the back of the cushion. The rear seats looked like they had never been sat on.
The quickshift is good, it made the shift a 1000% better than it was before, I got it from Rally Design in Kent - recommended.

yeah would be much nicer, pete is considering putting one back in. would be nicer as then I dont have to drive everywhere when more than two of us go out somewhere. will seriously look at the quickshift. really liked it.

Thought so! Andy is a mate who I play football with. I've not had a chance to look at or go in the car yet. I'm going to make sure I do though. I had a 1.9 Gti before the Scoob and loved it!

they are good motors, only the ones my mate have had have never been that reliable. always something that needs doing. and that was on mint condition ones.
still none the less good, despite the paper thin bodywork and rattles.
