...all the sites I've found are rubbish. No knowledge and no activity. I posted a couple times a few weeks ago and there is just zero response - they are all out retreading their wellies I guess

Sell it and buy a scoob, job done.

Once youve talked about a Range Rover for 5 mins, youve covered everything......twice.

They soon reply if you insult one. The thread on 5th Gears BBS after Tiff & Co rolled one was longer than the St.Johns bible. Blah blah safe, blah blah not driven correctly, blah blah best car ever, blah blah weighs 3 tons with sh!te brakes and is top heavy with stupidly high sided unstable tyres and driven by people who can only feel confident and safe if they're in something resembling a tank.

OK for posh farmers. Pointless in almost every other application in this country.

Crikey, someone can't even mention another make of car around here without getting slagged off!

Perhaps Diesel is old enough to make his own mind up gentlemen?

There are also a couple of BBS run by the LR magazines LROI(land rover owner international) and LRE(land rover enthusiast), do a search and you should find them. However, most of the boards are frequented by the more mechanical minded type. If you have a brand spanking one that you won't use spiritedly(Read-Drive up mountainsides and through six foot deep mudholes) then for your own sake don't tell them!!

Corrado - I see those arrogant traits in Scooby owners here. It's the fastest bestest handling car in the world etc and so much better than aRS Ford or any dull straight 4 engined Mitsu. I include myself in this too

The Scoob goes sideways @ 120 & the Range Rover carries the dog, baby and missus whilst ticking over at 65mph with the cruise control on... Absolutely LOVELY both of them! Mine has 18" wheels so wobbles less - pick on a Jeep if you want to cuss a pig on stilts! (oohh that arrogance about the motor again still, its true - the Rangie is like a Go Kart compared to that)!

So back to any Rangerover net you byghhas?? They are a WHOLE lot more complex than simple tin pot Scoobs and I need advice!

Be interested to see how you get on (I'll lurk a bit I think )

We went on an off-roading trails day the other weekend and it was FANTASTIC! Went with two guys who have Defender 90's (wife owns a STi7 hense how we know them ) and watched the trails then "played" afterwards, much, much fun Looking to get our own one to:

Drive up mountainsides and through six foot deep mudholes
asap

(obviously I ment Defender or Disco. not a Range Rover as that would be a little to expensive to put in a hole! )

With you all the way there Jen - I get immense re-assurance knowing I COULD park it in the garden if I wanted to. It's all about options

(Actually I asked the welly brigade what would be THE most road biased tyres I could get it - absolutely schtumm; nada; no comment...)

Diesel,

95% of Land Rover owners would prefer to pay £9.50 on a non genuine part rather than £10 on a genuine part, so asking about tyres on an open forum will result in Avon Rangemasters being the best tyres for road and a w*nky set of cross plies for off road!

Ive got Toyo's on Range Rover for road and BFG MT's on off roaders as best compromise. All these tyres are expensive compared to other's that are available but IMHO are the best.

Ive had Classic, P38 and now new shape Range Rovers and always had Proxes (SP?) on them. What do you actually need/want to know mate?

PMSL @ Tiggers. You cheeky so and so!

Other bits of info from current oweners would be on the lines of where is there a 'Scoobysport' for Rangies for routine servicing (good, reasonably priced guys that dont tell you to pi55 off for the whole day type of thing...). I also need 4 new tyres for the 18" wheels on it and want THE most road biased rubber around - is that the Proxes? The exhaust is not going to last forever either and wondered if there is a slightly sportier TVR type system for it
